It is interesting how quickly CNN says Obama's phony birth certificate means Sheriff Joe is a birther. All Joe is saying is that the document can't be verified as authentic. http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/10/politics/joe-arpiao-barack-obama-cnntv/index.html
Why don't they listen to his statements about the piece of paper and debate him on that instead of calling him names and shutting down the conversation?
Because crying normy news has always done that.
Ever since mid 2003 it feels like. Ever since they started their hate on George Bush. It only grew through the years.
Well I also heard that the woman responaible for verefying it ended up dying despite surviving the initial plane crash.
I mean there is some reason the birther movement started.
Rip
I'm gonna hang out in vc but I can't talk for like 20m
anybody has some thoughts on Iran's protests?
it's been two weeks now
I’m skeptical about the sources of any unrest in the Middle East
i don't like how any news outlet covering the story forget to mention that the current president of Iran is a moderate and is trying his best to bring change
thay would require them doing research on the situiation before reporting
The neocons are salivating right now I know that
the best course of action in Iran right now is to just verbally suport the protesters. Any more than that you will just give more power to the opposition. Let the unrest come from with in.
yeah
I find it strange when people want a president that understands the people but refuse to vote for a third party candidates.
People are led to believe only two options exist, and they vote accordingly, even when those choices are extremely unappealing.
It's also a matter of coverage. Third parties weren't allowed into the primary debates, if I remember?
True.
#shithole is the trending tag we deserve
The problem being in the US, there actually are only two options.
CGPGrey did a great video on the problems with first-past-the-post voting systems
Well, a third party is *technically* possible, but it would take so much coordination and the entire country voting them in via the "write-in" option.
Basically, yes. Unless the third-party can win in their first running, they're guaranteed to never be more than 'voting for those guys is why that person I dislike the most won last time, so I won't this time'
Seems third parties have to get the support of 15% of the electorate to even be included in the debates.
The spoiler effect is real
And how do they reach 15% if people don't see them as an option?
i think a third party would only be viable if big money is taken out of politics (lol)
No
It would require a fundamental change to the very voting system used.
From FPTP to something like Single Transferrable Vote
