Nowadays, it seems people are less willing to clash opinions towards the goal of _personal_ growth, and instead, go for a more _targeted_ approach. They'd much rather use people as sponges to absorb their ideologies, and dummies to yell at to feel superior.

2018-01-22 23:19:57 UTC

When those sponges and dummies yell back, they don't know what to do except continue yelling

2018-01-22 23:20:02 UTC

and it goes on and on and on and on

2018-01-22 23:20:40 UTC

The cycle of ideological and moral idiocy.

2018-01-22 23:20:42 UTC

Yeah I like debating anyone to improve my own views by either strengthening them or adapting them to encompass new facts.

😮 😮 😮

2018-01-22 23:21:23 UTC

😠

2018-01-22 23:21:40 UTC

. . .

2018-01-22 23:22:22 UTC

I just try to avoid any debates tbh. I never been good creating counter-arguments within a split second and I'm mostly too lazy to source my claims. However, I still hold certain opinions because I atleast understand the basics of most social and political topics

2018-01-22 23:22:27 UTC

Anyway, I seem to be socially liberal, but fiscally conservative.

2018-01-22 23:22:40 UTC

I'm shit at verbal debates.

2018-01-22 23:23:06 UTC

I'm a stumbling and stuttering dumbass when it comes to formulating my opinions under stress.

2018-01-22 23:23:08 UTC

Yeah, I'm not good at actual debate, especially without preparation or if the topic changes to something I haven't researched.

2018-01-22 23:23:33 UTC

oh my god..

2018-01-22 23:23:35 UTC

yee, same here haha. If it's like a reddit thread or something similar, I have no problem standing my own ground.

2018-01-22 23:23:40 UTC

@Enigmus you are in the r/yiff server too

2018-01-22 23:23:44 UTC

hello fellow degenerate

2018-01-22 23:23:48 UTC

who?

2018-01-22 23:23:50 UTC

hahaha

2018-01-22 23:23:59 UTC

😂

2018-01-22 23:24:43 UTC

debating isnt about creating instant counter-arguments, debaters always come into a debate with prepared notes based on what they think the other person will argue.

2018-01-22 23:24:59 UTC

Oftentimes, it feels like an ambush

2018-01-22 23:25:00 UTC

*good debaters

2018-01-22 23:25:09 UTC

Which it essentially is sometimes

2018-01-22 23:25:24 UTC

yes, and thats why you prepare

2018-01-22 23:25:25 UTC

Yeah.

2018-01-22 23:25:47 UTC

Found some old poll results of mine https://prnt.sc/hsc9qf

2018-01-22 23:25:52 UTC

follow the teaching of Sun Tzu: know your enemy and know yourself.

2018-01-22 23:26:21 UTC

It's hard to prepare when it's an ambush.

2018-01-22 23:26:30 UTC

I'd rather not go around, jumping at social shadows.

2018-01-22 23:26:41 UTC

And again, when the topic changes and shifts around.

2018-01-22 23:26:44 UTC

^

2018-01-22 23:26:56 UTC

if you are confident that its an ambush, don't take the debate.

2018-01-22 23:26:56 UTC

"Let me just take out my binder..."

2018-01-22 23:26:57 UTC

So what you're saying is...

2018-01-22 23:26:58 UTC

I can see why you would prepare if you're in a real/planned debated. However if it's just some random person or family member that brings something up that you disagree, you're not going to have notes you're ready to use for that kind of debate

2018-01-22 23:27:08 UTC

That too.

2018-01-22 23:27:17 UTC

😮

2018-01-22 23:27:28 UTC

well if you plan on debating random people, make sure you know your own position.
