i tend to just never get emotional about news until after its been through the news cycle. low expectations yet still high disapointment is better than high expections and being disapointed in yourself including the rest of the world.

Reject the motive and affiliation until you can verify with evidence enough to draw your own conclusion

you know what helps with not falling for hoaxes? not giving a shit about what the media says they heard from random people. you'r better off asking your dog than trusting the media when it comes to coverage of things like this.

While I don't think these activists are necessarily 'paid actors' or shit like that, I do think these guys appear to be seizing the opportunity and the spotlight to push their worldviews, with the media bringing them right along.

[Three words] Why would anyone think that removing those three words proves a point so much that they have to be either removed or added. Paricularly in an age where its absolutely trivial to determine the truth; it would take 3 minutes for either side to live screen share their mail-client and show that the message exists in their inbox, with all the appropriate timestamps/headers; and then show its content. Yes, all of that would be possible to fake; but it would be of a magnitude that would require substantial skill to get right.

If you know how to use the developer tools in a browser, it doesn't take that much skill to get right.
