@Timcast From a web host provider and someone who has had to run a website with user-generated content before, you are legally liable for the content that is posted by users *to an extent*. As in if someone was posting illegal content on the platform, you're open to potential legal troubles. It can be reported to the police, ISPs, etc, and then they contact you and give you around 48 hours to remove the offending content before they will seize your website. [See: Backpage and the like.] (This is assuming your servers are located in the US, and subject to different state's laws, which means the law does have jurisdiction) Much of the time, it's in the rules to not post any sort of illegal content, as dealing with the police and constantly have law enforcement patrolling and looking for problems on your platform isn't a good look. You want to minimize those instances as much as possible. Hope that helps explain how hosts have to deal with the law as well in reference to user-generated content on their platforms.
