@mo-me119 I look at that am very glad it doesn’t come from someone I know, because I hope no one I know thinks that way. oh, I 100% know some of my childhood friends (mostly living in California) believe horrible things about Donald Trump and since I’m not super close to them now (and some of them never was super close, just casual play together when around each other type friends), I don’t know how to broach the subject with them or what to tell them to make them understand my stance.

As for deal breakers, I long ago decided what my first priorities were for voting and yeah, those aren’t deal breakers for me. Certainly they will make a difference in my voting if two candidates are the same on the things that are deal breakers, but I did vote for the candidate who wasn’t racist. I did vote for a candidate who wasn’t homophobic or transphobic (not sure Biden’s stance there. He’s definitely racist. I’m not sure if he’s homophobic or transphobic, but definitely racist). I did vote for basic human rights and equality. That’s all part of why I voted for Donald Trump and not Joe Biden. No, it wasn’t the reason at the top of the list, but definitely high on the list. He is good for America. He is good for Americans. As best I can tell, Joe Biden is neither of those things.

Of course I am preaching to the choir, but it’s nice to have somewhere I feel safe saying that.

This is not a new thing and they have had four years to work on a strategy to make sure that if Donald Trump is voted out of the White House it is the American people who make that decision and not some group committing voter fraud. Not saying that I know this happened this way, but it would not surprise me one bit if they have been planning how to protect the election from fraud for four years.

I only use twitter for three things, chatting with certain people who I only know there, most of them via a specific fandom I am in, encouraging people who are sounding down about their word count during NaNoWriMo, and posting about interesting things I found on Kickstarter. That's pretty much it. One of these days I will cull my following list, but it's no big hurry, since I don't pay attention to my feed anyway.

@Atomic Muffin As best I understand it, Joe Biden spearheaded the smear campaign on Clarence Thomas back 30 or so years ago when Clarence Thomas joined the Supreme Court.

I would imagine until the number of people actually watching them is low enough that they figure no one, not even enough to win one state based off their say so, actually believes them.

I remember in 2012, we didn’t have a great candidate against President Obama and once President Obama had won, most people lost interest in learning. I kept watching, because at that point it was important to me that at least the state I currently live in didn’t vote for him. And they didn’t, so after that I went to bed.

I live in Missouri. Not sure of all the rules and I am told we the bad Hammer here, but what I know is we can show either our voter ID (which is free) or photo ID. They used to look on a physical list. Wish they still did, but now they find us on a data base using our ID. Then, they hand us a paper ballot which two people (presumably different parties) both initial in front of us. Then we go to a private area in the room where we fill it out with an ink pen. It used to be one of those where you connect the arrow. Now, it’s a bubble. Then we manually feed it into the machine ourselves and it counts how many ballots have been fed into it, the number going up by one each time (for some reason I tend to watch that number, mostly because I am curious how many people voted in our district. I’ve seen an election where we were there at the end of the day and it was under 400 people. We were there midday this time and it was over 900. Huge difference, but the other wasn’t voting on people, only issues. For some reason people don’t care about issues as much. Weird that.)
Best thing in this election so far was Missouri passing Amendment 3. The issues are important, too. 😄

So in 2018 they passed an amendment that made it so one person, chosen from a selection chosen by one person was going to draw up lines for the redistricting that happens every ten years. Supposedly this person would be nonpartisan, which is highly unlikely at its surface, but the person who would choose this “nonpartisan” person (well, technically would chose several people for a group to pick from) would be an elected official who would themselves definitely be partisan (position currently held by a democrat, but even if it wasn’t this doesn’t seem smart).

Amendment 3 altered that to make it a bi-partisan group (which it was previously). It’s not a reversal, although that part is reversed, because that was only one part of it, but the part that I thought was most scary about the original bill and most relieving about the new one that passed.

It just gave way too much power to one individual and I think it makes more sense to involve a group on both sides of the political isle rather than one individual who probably is only for one side.

It’s really weird. Some people are claiming that he made a fake account and had been having conversations with himself on twitter and I can’t say that’s not true, though I don’t know what the point is. Those who say that claim he signed in to the wrong account when he posted which is, why the other guy posted the video, to counter the claims that the second account wasn’t a separate person. I didn’t look too deep, so I don’t know for sure which is true, but I’m inclined to believe the guy is just inept at quoting people.

Interesting idea that they might have changed it. Certainly a possibility and something like that would be hard to prove it wasn’t the original since they is low demand for the information prior to this.

I’m pretty sure in cases where someone changes the original, they do it all the time, since people often don’t check sources and when they do they often don’t look too deeply, that people are stupid enough to link to falsified information.

On a random, sort of related note, I read a book series where the author was actively trying to protect the gender of one of her characters who was pretending to be a different gender some of the time. For almost three books in a four book series, she didn't use a pronoun once when referring to this character. It was only in the epilogue of the third book that she revealed, quite blatantly that this character was a woman (who by the way never dressed as a man, but instead had a different name she used in certain circumstances, when she was either not around or pretending she was not around . . . she had three different personas, one male, one female, and one real . . . also female . . . in the books. She dropped both of the fake ones by the end of the fourth book). It was funny to read the author's note in the third book where the author pointed out that she never used pronouns for this character and I am looking through random spots in the book and realizing, she's right. Kind of fun.
