Just scrolled up and there was a debate about CNN's influence outside USA. Nobody in UK pays any attention to CNN and given the rest of Europe would be having to watch it not in their native language, they likely have zero interest in it also. That leaves maybe Australia, Canada and New Zealand, which I know nothing about. But in Europe CNN is a non-entity.

Actually though, even though none of us plebs in Europe watch CNN, I suppose that media organisations here may still be affected by CNN's output. Journalists in Europe may well watch CNN. So in that regard it can still have influence in Europe.

I think journalists in other continents or global regions get a lot of their information on the rest of the world via the "trusted sources" of those nations/regions (so CNN is probably viewed as a trusted source for finding out what's going on in USA).

All the Muslims are in the north so Islamic culture is infused with north Indian culture. I blame it on that partly. Also the people in the north got brutalized more by conquerors and despotic rulers (often Muslim) so that can turn a culture more violent and just dysfunctional. Stuff like honour killing happens in the north but hardly ever in the south.

The south was never fully "Muslim ruled" unlike the rest of India. I've wondered before if that might've made a difference. Just another speculative theory of mine so again probably crap.

My main theory, nothing to do with Muslims, is just that the south saw less bloody conquest. So had more peace time to create a thriving civilization. The north was always a battle ground being fought over by various conquerors. Then the interior of India is poor just because farthest from the coasts so interiors of giant nations are always poor.

India is a bit like Brazil that way. The south of Brazil is far more prosperous and socially cohesive than the north. Then a nation like Italy is the reverse, great north but shit south. Nearly every nation has some geographic imbalance like that.

North Brazil is poor because most folk there are African slave descent whereas the south are mainly European economic immigrant descent. So there will be some reason for the divide in India.
