@Pendell not to mention that, if this twitter user regularly espouses viewpoints of a particular political tribe, then their followers likely belong to that same political tribe which could skew the results of the poll
or at least a majority of their followers
oh that kind of poll. I thought it was one of those built-in twitter polls
What's with that wrinkly shit below your eyes @Rabbi Shekels
I'd say you're right. You can see from election data the ways in which people with similar political opinions typically live near each other. It depends on how the poll was done, whether it was a small or large geographical area. If it was 1,000 people from the same city block in, say, NYC then they may all likely share similar opinions and points of view
do you know if the poll was conducted online?
Any of you fellas just watch CNN's segment on furries? because I just did and I want to gouge my own eyes out
I saw the commercial for it and I thought "well this should be interesting"
Apparently furries who happen to be parents take their **young children** to anthro-con
I'm gonna see if the segment is up on youtube or CNN's website and link it here
I didn't find the whole segment just yet but found the clip where they show all the children in fursuits: https://www.cnn.com/videos/tv/2018/11/14/this-is-life-lisa-ling-season-5-episode-8-ron-4.cnn
By the way, NBC also did a segment on furries that is basically identical to the CNN one
They are basically that weird cross between horrible to look at but impossible to look away
My dad said the same thing watching the segment. You're basically giving your child a crutch which they must rely on to socialize properly

Personally, I don't understand how all these IT folks got radicalized. I'm currently going to college for computer programming, and pretty much everyone in my classes as well as the professors are center-left and center-right. Some of them have even openly mocked political correctness in front of the class. Not to mention this is a Canadian college, which is where Google and other silicon valley companies tend to go looking for talent. Where do you guys think the radicalization happens?
Thanks for the quick response. I didn't really think that people could be so easily indoctrinated in their adulthood
I always figured that it happened a bit younger, perhaps in their teens or earlier
I grew up with autism and I'm really glad that I left elementary school before this started happening

As far as we know, there's no life to displace on mars in the first place (Besides very small lifeforms perhaps). As for its environment, it's currently inhospitable and couldn't get much worse for supporting life, let alone intelligent life.
From the article: "But Iโm disturbed by the way people talk about going to Mars as if the planet is ours..."
Who's is it exactly then? It sounds like this person has conceptualized an idea of intelligent life on mars without any evidence for such an idea. I don't think microbes are very concerned with much, let alone what we do on mars
Until some other civilization claims the planet as their own, there isn't much stopping anyone from claiming mars as their own. These people sound worried about a microbe genocide. I don't think we can make smallpox blankets that small though
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands is a fun game in terms of exploration and strategy. That being said, it is also a third person shooter which you may or may not like. You are basically fighting a drug cartel in Bolivia but the way the enemy AI is programmed, you can choose whether you want to handle a situation stealthily or go all out guns a blazin'. The playable area is absolutely massive, which is why I say it's a good adventure/exploration
@taekahn too bad you don't have the means to defend your claim (here come the ancaps)
@Salacious Swanky Cat I believe they are called McNukesโข

Oh my god I missed the best part of the article "Itโs been troubling to me to hear people erasing whatโs going on here on our own planet both from an environmental standpoint and an indigenous rights standpoint when they talk about going to other planets."
She actually thinks there's indigenous people on mars
"Gizmodo: What does a Decolonized Mars look like?"
It looks a lot like never going to fucking Mars because of muh microbes
The German government, or anyone for that matter, should be able to debate racists and show people why they're wrong. Instead they just try to shut them up, which only confirms to the racists that their ideas are sound and that the German government is suppressing them for that very reason
Up here in Canada that's kind of a good thing, because house prices are insanely high and too few people can buy or even rent one. To give you guys an idea, in Toronto a run-down Victorian house that still has asbestos in it, hasn't been painted in 50 years, has serious problems with its foundation and is situated in a dangerous neighborhood will still be worth 3 million Canadian dollars.
People can only just barely afford their mortgage with the current low interest rates, once those go up they will all have to sell their houses which will bring down prices
Out west, yeah. At one point they could buy a house they didn't even live in or rent out. Just holding onto it they could make a fortune by selling it a year later with the price of the house now double what it was
It got so bad that tent cities began to form in Vancouver's downtown parks
Out in Eastern Canada there's a lot of rich people who will buy up entire blocks of houses to rent out. Few homes in my neighborhood are actually owned by the people living in them. My landlord owns every house on my block.
I get that. I'm from a middle class family but most of my family lives in west end Toronto, which is a rougher area than the tourist-y downtown core
I regularly visit and am used to the stuff that goes on down there
especially as we just broke a record for homicides this year
Oh and as we were talking about house prices: My grandparents in west toronto own a victorian apartment built in 1935 with two floors and a kitchen on each floor. It's falling apart and has not been updated in any way on the inside or out. It's worth over a million dollars
Tumblr still exists? I thought all those Wiccans and other weirdos took over and ran it into the ground years ago
I swear when it comes to people like Allsup, it's like watching a documentary about a particular conspiracy theory all the way to the end just for some guy like Allsup to whisper in your ear "oh and by the way, it's ***tHe JeWs***".

Trying to draw connections between your average jewish person and the few who are in powerful positions (and specifically the ones often associated with conspiracy theories) is exactly the same as feminists trying to draw a connection between the average man and all successful males. It's such a lazy conclusion, all you'd have to do is think for five seconds and realize that there are so few jews that supposedly control the world compared to the jewish population that it most likely has nothing to do with jewish heritage. At least the socialists simply identify "the rich" as the problem, which while still a lazy distinction still takes a few more brain cells than "it's the jews"
Once drone delivery becomes a thing I'll just sit around with an airsoft gun. Get free stuff by shooting 'em down.
Yeah that would be effective, because the dollar store is known for quality and reliability
They would also have to shoot me before I shoot it
The drone's gun probably won't be effective at aiming in a downward spiral
the authority to give the migrants a little taste of ***MUH FREEDOM***
I'm not surprised really. In the world of armchair activism, mass-reviewing a TV show, movie or videogame depending on the politics of it is somehow a valiant effort
maybe it's the only restaurant in town? @Inquisition
may be the only nearby establishment that the manager was qualified to work at
yeah well now you can be fired for social media posts that don't concern your place of work, or even made at your place of work. Employers seem to have been trying to erase the fine line between public and private life over the years

I've heard a couple people say its good and a metric fuckton of people saying it's absolute shit
I'll save my money until the price becomes a third of what it is now, and all the content has been released

I absolutely *love* articles like this. They hit you with the results of the poll right in the headline (which too few people will read and move on without going through the article). Scroll down a ways and you find out they only polled 2,000 people to represent all of Canada (36.7 million people). The article isn't worded to inform people either, it reads as though it is attempting to convince me why the poll represents the truth (whether it does or not).
And of course more Canadians wouldn't support Trump. You guys in the U.S. have an America First president, while up here we have a Canada Last prime minister and as a result Trump can pretty much have his way with us because there's nobody to fight him on it. When Trump tries to get the best deal for the U.S. it will mean that Canada probably won't come out on top which is enough to make a lot of Canadians dislike him at least somewhat. Our media also doesn't really like him either (not quite CNN levels of partisanship, but getting there) which doesn't help Trump in Canadian public opinion. I'm actually surprised that public opinion of Trump isn't worse up here.

@ihereou of course no-one is totally right. We all get things to a varying degree of right or wrong, and it is the responsibility of each individual to learn what is right and what is wrong in order to avoid being deceived
As much as I'd like an actual Canada First party, those kinds of things have a tendency to attract the wrong type of people unfortunately. I'd much prefer a Common Sense Party of Canada, comprised of center-left and center-right libertarians looking to get rid of political extremists and ideologues so we can get back to focusing on actual important and relevant issues.
by "get rid of" I mean specifically to eliminate their ideas through debate
I like the way you think @Beemann
Beemann over here be droppin some ***wOkEnEsS*** on us
The people being debated may not have their opinions swayed, but the people watching the debate could be convinced. Perhaps not all, but some. Of course there are people with crazy levels of bias that they could never accept that their position is wrong (I've seen some shit like this on Dr. Phil), but they will be a minority.
On the other hand, silencing these people instead of debating them will not only confirm their beliefs to them but it will convince others that they are right. At least debate will keep the amount of political extremists to a minimum
Same here. My opinions have changed dramatically over the past two years, originally starting on the center right and listening to Ben Shapiro and Milo Yiannopoulos. Now I'm center left, listen to Tim (obviously) and other people on the left. I'm even starting to purchase some books on politics and philosophy which will probably change my opinions even more. I think people can change their opinions quite fluidly when they become cognizant of the tribalistic workings of their brain.
That's likely because the only people who attack others based on politics are not interested in finding truth regardless of where it lies, but rather they simply want their tribe to be right. I don't blame them entirely, it's a function of the human mind that once served us in terms of self-preservation. When you are completely disconnected from any group, then you won't have that drive to see your tribe win. In my opinion, it's one of the best ways to ensure that your own political biases are kept to a minimum. As for your friend, it's really unfortunate to hear that they were willing to give up a friendship over politics. Back in high school I had a friend who was a self-proclaimed democratic socialist. At the time I was center-right, which he knew about. We never had any issues in our friendship, political or otherwise.

In what world do these people think that by shutting down conspiracy theorists that it ***won't*** make them think they are on to something and they're being shut down because of it?
Imagine having thanksgiving in November
This was made by Canada gang
Reminds me of my home country of Canada
Or even just a left or right libertarian would probably still be ostracized there
Luckily we have less standardized tests in Canada but we still have a few. All anyone would ever do was memorize for the test and then forget everything right after
The big difference here in Canada is that our alternative (conservative) party is too corporatist and in some cases too traditionally conservative. The liberals were our center-left party that were supposed to be the reasonable ones, but they've fallen off the rails entirely and joined the NDP (socialist party) when it comes to social issues but not on economic issues.
