Just want to mention something regarding that post about quantum teleportation; it isn't actually the first time we've been able to perform quantum teleportation, but it is the first time we've been able to do so using different computer chips
@Dr.Cosby Yeah, they have. I believe there's been successful tests from distances of over 1200 miles as well
So
Just glanced through this a bit
Automation is far and above the leash g cause of job loss on the international market
Immigration actually promotes competition between employers
A lot of rural communities are at risk of losing over 20% of jobs to automation
The rate of jobs taken by illegal immigration is a fraction of that
And that's inevitable
But illegal immigration is a straw man argument and has been since the 90s
Illegal immigration also promotes job growth in similar, albeit more reduced, rates to legal migration
This can be verified through simple economics as well

I'm an atheist
But I will still go to church and church groups
The camaraderie is where religion, particularly Christianity, excels
It's able to create a very welcoming environment, but it's also a very dangerous weapon in the wrong hands
I've been lucky enough to meet amazingly open and welcoming Christians, but not everyone has
Here's the thing though
Through becoming acquainted with them, I grew increasingly familiar with the Bible as well
Christianity, as I said, creates a great group environment
But the issue with that is it also encourages a very singular and direct interpretation of morality and ethics, despite them being shown to both evolve and change dependent on society, the point of history and the religions themselves
So I mean away from the definition of being a true Christian
Besides that, under the Bible's own admittance, it is impossible for anyone but Jesus to be a true Christian
The best any other person could do would be to seek to emulate Jesus as closely as possible
And as the Bible reiterates on many points, this is again impossible
Hence the need for a sacrifice
Bananas no longer exist in the natural world
So no
Aye, that
The whole Lamb idea
Not that a sacrifice needs to be made, no
But that, according to biblical lore, that it already has been made
Due to the inherent sinfulness of People, we would be incapable of living as Jesus did
Aye
Or Jesus's sacrifice
However you want to address it as
The purpose of the sacrifice was to create an eternal promise of access into heaven through the covenant of Jesus's blood being spilled to substitute for the necessary sacrifice to remove sin from humanity
As previously lambs were viewed as a symbol of innocence, as well as being a prized portion of the herd, they were used chiefly as the sacrifice to erase the sins of the Hebrew people, as we see within the attempted sacrifice of Isaac
This is the origin for the moniker of the Lamb being attributed to Jesus as well
Prior to being an atheist I was debating on attending a seminary school and was a bible camp counselor, so I've got a fairly good grasp on the crucifixion lol
I also still own 3 bibles, one of which is a Masonic bible
Hypocrisy, as with any religion
Even Buddhism pushes me away due to it
As much as I enjoy the Zen idealism, the hypocrisy still remains
Not so much. It depends on the region they live
If they live within North America or Europe, their value system is clearly going to be more in line with the Judeo-Christian ethics and morals, which has largely become ubiquitous on an international scale. I attribute this largely to the switch to Christianity within the Roman Empire's history, as the Romans and Greeks have largely been the foundation of western society and civilization.
However, as we move into different regions we see changes within the local opinion on morality and ethics
Even within countries that largely share Judeo-Christian values we can see a difference
For example, a great indicator of this is what's made readily accessible and viewable on TV
In the US, nudity and sexyality is seen as being greatly immodest and indecent, largely
And this shows within the available programming
Now, as much as I hate the show, Big Brother is a great indicator. In the US it's highly censored, scripted and generally a bad show
Within Sweden, the localized version includes nudity and is essentially softcore porn, as, while it doesn't show full genitalia, it is very direct
Then as we shift further, when in Africa and the Middle East, we reach a form of morality typically based off the original Abrahamic philosophies
Then, further over, we have the South East Asian countries, largely Muslim, Buddhist, or of an indigenous religion
These all keep fairly base versions of morality to be line with the rest of the world, largely due to how widely the Judeo-Christian model was spread by the Roman and British empires.
This shows us that morality is largely based on worldview of your society that you were raised within, as well as how your parents raised you, then finished off with the personal morals and ethics you form through natural development and personal experience
Oh dang
Was about to tl;dr
I probably still should tbh
A relatively common reaction in the latter
However, while illegal immigration is an issue, the US government has been shown to be directly breaking their own refugee laws in how they handle asylum seekers from Mexico, Nicaraugua and other Central American countries. They are legally required, by their own law, to process the applicant fully
So I agree with the one bible belief
But only so far
After all, there's the KJV, NIV, NLV and various translations of the bible
So within these versions there are differences
Largely they're just phrasing or sentence structure
But certain verses take entirely different meaning based on those. And sometimes the words are restructured into a sentence of a very different meaning as well
See, that's where the issue is as well
Each translation suffers from relativism
As they're ultimately interpretations of a book that has been rewritten hundreds of times
As well has been through monumental linguistic shifts as well
Not just within it's original form, but throughout it's popular history as well
So the languages used for the original oratory editions of the Bible changed while being passed along as well
And considering it was passed as a spoken tradition for hundreds, if not thousands of years, caused certain interpretations to be made as well
Monks are actually my favourite part of it all
How familiar are you with the history of punctuation and grammar?
Because when the Bible was originally being transcribed by monks, they largely didn't exist
This also includes spaces between words
This causes a much higher rate of error in early transcripts as well
As not only did words have to be carefully made out, but had to be wrestled into its proper placement for the sentence based on guesswork
Due to this it was some of these same monks who introduced spacing between words
Exactly
Hence why I'm hesitant to fully subscribe to the "one Bible" idea
The general message within are essentially the same
But having personally gone through different versions, you notice certain omissions
The most common is dropped words
Which gives me startling flashbacks to 1984 and Newspeak
Same to you
