Aye, that

2020-01-02 02:10:02 UTC

The whole Lamb idea

2020-01-02 02:10:03 UTC

So hold on.

2020-01-02 02:10:09 UTC

I see.

2020-01-02 02:10:31 UTC

So we need to sacrifice something (for an example, a lamb) to be perfect like Jesus?

2020-01-02 02:11:03 UTC

Not that a sacrifice needs to be made, no

2020-01-02 02:11:28 UTC

But that, according to biblical lore, that it already has been made

2020-01-02 02:12:18 UTC

Due to the inherent sinfulness of People, we would be incapable of living as Jesus did

2020-01-02 02:12:29 UTC

You’re referring to the crucifixion?

2020-01-02 02:12:56 UTC

Aye

2020-01-02 02:13:32 UTC

Or Jesus's sacrifice

2020-01-02 02:13:37 UTC

Are you sure you understand the point of the crucifixion and how it relates to sin?

2020-01-02 02:13:43 UTC

However you want to address it as

2020-01-02 02:14:08 UTC

Here hold on

2020-01-02 02:15:11 UTC

The purpose of the sacrifice was to create an eternal promise of access into heaven through the covenant of Jesus's blood being spilled to substitute for the necessary sacrifice to remove sin from humanity

2020-01-02 02:16:52 UTC

As previously lambs were viewed as a symbol of innocence, as well as being a prized portion of the herd, they were used chiefly as the sacrifice to erase the sins of the Hebrew people, as we see within the attempted sacrifice of Isaac

2020-01-02 02:17:28 UTC

This is the origin for the moniker of the Lamb being attributed to Jesus as well

2020-01-02 02:18:58 UTC

Prior to being an atheist I was debating on attending a seminary school and was a bible camp counselor, so I've got a fairly good grasp on the crucifixion lol

2020-01-02 02:18:58 UTC

GG @PohTayToes, you just advanced to level 3!

2020-01-02 02:19:21 UTC

Well you saved me writing a paragraph at least

2020-01-02 02:19:35 UTC

I also still own 3 bibles, one of which is a Masonic bible

2020-01-02 02:19:47 UTC

So what’s your main issue with Christianity?

2020-01-02 02:20:00 UTC

Hypocrisy, as with any religion

2020-01-02 02:20:22 UTC

Even Buddhism pushes me away due to it

2020-01-02 02:20:55 UTC

As much as I enjoy the Zen idealism, the hypocrisy still remains

2020-01-02 02:22:42 UTC

So you believe basically the Bible teaches ethics and morale that people who don’t believe or haven’t read the bible, don’t already have these morales and don’t submit to it?

2020-01-02 02:23:17 UTC

Not so much. It depends on the region they live

2020-01-02 02:23:27 UTC

Region? Hm.

2020-01-02 02:23:32 UTC

That’s new ok I’m listening

2020-01-02 02:27:01 UTC

If they live within North America or Europe, their value system is clearly going to be more in line with the Judeo-Christian ethics and morals, which has largely become ubiquitous on an international scale. I attribute this largely to the switch to Christianity within the Roman Empire's history, as the Romans and Greeks have largely been the foundation of western society and civilization.

2020-01-02 02:27:38 UTC

However, as we move into different regions we see changes within the local opinion on morality and ethics

2020-01-02 02:28:25 UTC

Even within countries that largely share Judeo-Christian values we can see a difference

2020-01-02 02:29:01 UTC

For example, a great indicator of this is what's made readily accessible and viewable on TV

2020-01-02 02:29:56 UTC

In the US, nudity and sexyality is seen as being greatly immodest and indecent, largely

2020-01-02 02:30:16 UTC

And this shows within the available programming

2020-01-02 02:31:22 UTC

Now, as much as I hate the show, Big Brother is a great indicator. In the US it's highly censored, scripted and generally a bad show

2020-01-02 02:32:35 UTC

Within Sweden, the localized version includes nudity and is essentially softcore porn, as, while it doesn't show full genitalia, it is very direct

2020-01-02 02:33:40 UTC

Then as we shift further, when in Africa and the Middle East, we reach a form of morality typically based off the original Abrahamic philosophies

2020-01-02 02:35:04 UTC

Then, further over, we have the South East Asian countries, largely Muslim, Buddhist, or of an indigenous religion

2020-01-02 02:36:56 UTC

These all keep fairly base versions of morality to be line with the rest of the world, largely due to how widely the Judeo-Christian model was spread by the Roman and British empires.

2020-01-02 02:39:21 UTC

This shows us that morality is largely based on worldview of your society that you were raised within, as well as how your parents raised you, then finished off with the personal morals and ethics you form through natural development and personal experience
