There are other ways to protect information. How do you avoid being doxed? By being careful about the information you reveal. Or contributing misinformation. There are also contractual protections like NDAs and NCCs.

I think the problem is you are vastly overestimating the value of a slave. Historically they were used for things like agricultural labor. Say you have 100 slaves on your plantation. You have to feed and house them (dead slaves are even lower quality labor than live ones) and they tend to try to leave so you also have guards and overseers to make sure they do the minimal amount of labor you can get oout of a slave.

Your neighbor on the other hand buys a tractor for his plantation. Which does the labor of 100 slaves and has lower maintenance costs.

Hey go all out instead of a dozen overseers to watch your hundred slaves you hire 3 tractor drivers to keep that tractor running 24-7 on rotating shifts.

@Tero You will run out of overseers pretty fast. Unless they are going to avoid any field your slaves are working. Which will make it rather difficult to keep slaves around.

No my claim is that slavery is economically unfeasible. Unless you contend that these prisons pay their upkeep and turn a profit off of the labor they sell. Which they do not. This is not difficult math. Prisoners you have to feed clothe and house on top of the overhead of guards and other infrastructure. On top of this they still pay the prisoners something. Alternately you pay people enough to buy food clothing shelter and some other nice things without all that overhead.

The south in fact had to pass new laws to make slavery viable.

So even in the south which has less industrial development slavery only maintained itself through indirect government subsidies.

Just read a book about this problem it's called an inadequate equilibrium. A system like social media can fall into an equilibrium even if it is not an ideal system. Like Twitter or FB. So even a preferable system cannot compete because the equilibria point has already been fulfilled by an inadequate one.
