Eh?
What are you talking about?
*Renewable energies has their problems:
Wind isn't reliable enough to be based on, Solar panels has really low efficiency (something like 10% for common commercial solar panels, the highest I know of is somewhere around 30%) and the sun isn't always shining (nights), Thermosolar isn't effective as well.
Hydroelectric is quite expensive to construct and isn't available everywhere.
The most promising renewable energy technology right now is Tidal Energy, but it's still in its infancy.
@Salacious Swanky Cat Tidal is the most reliable, and again, it's in its infancy and it seems very promising.
10 years ago I've seen a panel of 30% efficiency, AFAIK they are not commercial viable due to high costs (which limits their usage for very specific tasks), they've actually reached 40%.
Renewable energy right know has a problem of high costs anyhow, we won't come anything near to 80% in the next decade due to costs and the lack reliability.
I would love to see the source for the 80% figure, it sounds way too high for me.
I would also like to know what AIPAC did.
Hi, I'm an Israeli, I can't say I don't like what they are doing.
Especially when you consider where the youth and the Federal administrators are being educated.
@Salacious Swanky Cat source?
Oh, I see
Well, evanglicans are way more influential than AIPAC
Although Jews do have a strong hold in the Democratic party
But they have completely different views on things than Israelis, actually, they are progressive Americans more than anything else.
Oh, she's a BDSer
Well, I think it's clear why there is a dislike to her among some circles.
It can't be 100%, it's not reliable enough.
Thanks for the source though.
On a complete different subject: I guess you're aware of young people tendencies to define themselves mostly by their "origin country" rather than their current one?
Ethnicity
Well
Something that you might be unaware of: there are Jews from all around the world, one of the largest groups were the ones from the Arab world. They were expelled during the 50's or "voluntarily" left.
Now
Here we go
Because there's a lie which circulates for a very long time in leftist circles
That Jews from the Arab world are Arabs
It's started in the US and creeped in to here
Yes
Propegated by some hard left Jews from the relevant group
Yes
Welcome to the Jewish world, 2 Jews 4 different opinions.
Now
This is going for so long that some people started to see this as truth
Which is not, the Jews of the Arab world absorbed some of the culture there, but they didn't assimilated into the Culture or the ethnicity, unlike Christians.
Ideology I guess.
Actually, they were there before even Mohammed was born.
Mostly a mix of surrounding cotries which the Jordanian considered as part of them.
Countries
That came here with the the beginning of Zionism.
BTW: Jordan renounced them in the 80's
*their citizenship
They've actually expelled the PLO in the 70's after they've been fed up with their nonsense
Arafat was born in Egypt BTW
Anyhow, back to the Jewish thing: this ugly thing has started to rise up in the US and here too.
Most people here would be offended if call them Arab Jews
And due to progressivism, some youth in the US are defining themselves as "Arab Jews", while their parents did everything to strip themselves from this identity.
In the US they went full force of becoming Americans.
Here it's a little more complicated, a lot people do take the "origin country" in account (traditions), but they are first and foremost, Israeli Jews.
Actually, most of the population here is mixed
So it's not that true anymore and is rather irrelevant (except for sect jokes/humor, this is always fun).
A person's sect is almost never a hurdle towards marriage or friendship.
Or a factor
The big exception are the Ultra Orthodox
Which are a pain, like a real pain, a pain which forces itself upon you.
Hmm?
*BTW: the reason it's complicated is because of the labour party (which ruled for nearly 30 years at the beginning of the country), it was very very racist and Socialist.
They felt themselves superior to others
Anyhow
Yes
They became progressive too BTW.
Ultra Orthodox is a collection of rather radical Ashkenazi sects
Anyhow, ever since 1977 (the year that the Likud, the right winged party, won the election) they've lost every election
With the exception of 2.5 times
And the last 2 times were traumatic
That's why the left will never regain its power through elections.
Here
Though the administration is filled to the brim with them.
The problem with ultra orthodox is that they are extremely intolerant to other ways of life.
For example, I'm gay, ultra orthodox are the reason why there's no surrogate option for single men.
And by extension, gays.
It's forbidden by law.
It's allowed for single women
And anyhow, the country shouldn't get involved in this
Government
BTW, gay couples can be really good parents
Yes
But, women can go to the sperm bank and get donation.
It's complicated, women can use it to trap someone
Luckily, I don't need to face such things ๐
BTW, it's very unlikely for a single gay to use surrogate, it's very very expensive business.
Nice, I personally left the religion due to it.
Although "religious" is a very fluid term here.
Especially when you talk about Askenazi vs Mizrahi Jews.
Nice to see someone from the trans community which isn't a crazy SJW ๐
*Ashkenazi Jews tend to be way more strict, Mizrahi Jews has a way more liberal interpretation of the religion so they take what they see fit.
@SpanishAbbey good, because the trans I know in person are SJWs, combative SJWs.
What do you mean by "cure"?
There's no cure for it
It's hardwired into the brain
There's nothing to cure
True
But it's pre determined and every attempt to "fix" it ended with bad results.
But it's not "mental"
I know what a mental condition is way too well.
Way way too well.
And it can be treated, Sexual orientation isn't.
There are ways to mitigate it
For gays? Nope
So does homosexuality
Not for the person himself though, more to his sister
BTW: homosexuality in China wasn't viewed as something horrendous up until the 18th century
Or 19
Or negative in general
