it was originally about Earth's spin/tilt. but we can tackle any topic you are interested in
I'm nothing if not flexible
unfortunately I cannot post images here so will do my best
so the tilt is a not necessary. it can't be measured. it was constructed to explain away some phenomena. such as seasons
but there is an alternate explanation based on a flat earth model
there is one what?
ah ok. good. so if you picture the sun making a circle over a flat earth
it makes a path closer to the north pole in summer and farther away in winter.
ah ok. sounds like you are familiar with it then
that's good. the key to being a truth seeker is first humility. never assume you have the answer and second to be open to all ideas and not judge until after investigation
cool. then sounds like your biggest issue is.....gravity?
ah ok. so...."Gravity" is difficult because we still don't understand it. in fact that was one of my first shockers when I started college
physics prof said "we still don't understand gravity"
I remember like yesterday....was 25yrs ago
we don't truly know what causes things to fall down. mass attracting mass has never been proven
and we can't replicate gravity
nor tune it like we can say with EM
but...
if we assume for a moment that mass attracts mass...it could be exaplanable on a flat earth model
bcs we only can measure/observe that the surface of earth is flat.
no clue what's underneath
and we've only been able to drill about 8 miles
so it's entirely possible that variations in "weight" if ever measured in different locations, could be attributed to different center of mass in that region
we don't truly know what is under the surface
one could imagine, as a possibly silly example, regions/pockets of high density material scattered throughout the "crust" or "mantle" that causes differential gravitational "force" depending on location
just as a thought expt....
the last key to being a truthseeker is "holding ambiguity"
that is...being comfortable not having solid answers to all the questions.
that can be difficult...esp for scientists
๐
trust me...I have lots of questions that I don't have satisfactory answers to. But give me one year of NASAs budget (circa $20 Billion) and I guarantee I can create an R&D program to answer them...
good for you!!
that's what blocks most people in my experience
you have to be honest and say "I don't know" but I won't let that stop my pursuit
I will apologize for the whole "flat earth community". realize it's probably the most trolled topic in history. it's constant attacks. so....folks tend to be on high alert all the time.
sleep well my friend. talk to you later hopefully ๐
this is how it SHOULD be.
always
๐ it actually IS possible!
what a concept
yeah I would say it might be due to the reason I mentioned above. there is so much trolling activity that it puts people a bit on edge. it's not an excuse for bad behavior...just a possible explanation
there is no excuse for getting ugly
but we all sometimes say/do things we regret later
the real challenge here is the lack of video. some pyschologists estimate that circa 70% of communication is non-verbal
meaning...we could be losing 70% of the message just using text
YES
lol. spot on
right. good point
I think we lose appreciation for the very fact we're all here! can you imagine telling someone 500 yrs ago that one day people from across the world can communicate with each other in seconds?
we take it for granted
let's not abuse it. let's take advantage of it
I go for win/win scenarios
lol. right
how many hours do you have?
๐
short answer...I've always been a truth seeker..and while working on a prototype for one of my companies I was listening to a podcast (dont like music so much..I go for learning)
lol
and the flat earth topic came up and it was new to me so...I had to find out more
I'm a PhD scientist so I guess I have a natural curiosity about how stuff works
so.....that started me on the journey
apologies but I don't share that. it's such a very niche field that it would be easy to self-dox. but the general field is Chemistry
๐
good to hear. my "troll radar" has been turned off ๐
Hey @INNR-G . how goes it?
yeah I have a minor in chemistry...just from the core curriculum
I meant physics
I was focused more on P-chem
than wet chemistry
ah ok. the opposite for me :). the cumulative data better supports a flat earth model in my evaluation of it
@Silly Rabbit, Trix Are For Kids I'm alive again today! all the rest is a bonus ๐
how are you?
excellent
any day above ground is a great day. one more day to learn ๐
I'm not complaining...
good attitude!
we need more of that
the only thing I'm still confused about tbh is how the cat flies the helicopter. but there is probably another channel for that so...
I'll stay open-minded ๐
LMAO ๐คฃ
thanks. that clears that up ๐
one more truth to check off the list...
see? I never would have assumed that. always keep an open mind
but not so open that the truth leaks back out
lol
the very fact that we're even discussing says it was worth the screenname ๐
I need to come up with something more creative....
yeah it kind of reflects my personality I guess
I have low tolerance for bull ๐ฉ
sleep well my friend. hope to talk to you again soon
bye!
so far....I really like the atmosphere here
a bit more tedious to get in the door than other servers...but seems to be paying off
I have near zero tolerance for trolls.
ergo I would not make a good mod
yeah but I would probably be too quick with the hammer
right
it's good to create a bit of a "barrier to entry" for these servers.
well worth a little pain up front to join
wow. interesting....
people have too much time on their hands I think. life is too easy in 2019
