If this doesn't get brought up during Question Time I'll be very disappointed

2018-03-09 10:02:47 UTC

Meanwhile,

2018-03-09 10:02:57 UTC

` the company has fought a sustained battle against increases to the minimum wage, an issue that affects women disproportionately`

2018-03-09 10:03:06 UTC

*W O M E N M O S T A F F E C T E D*

2018-03-09 10:03:51 UTC

So

2018-03-09 10:03:55 UTC

Make sure your shift is covered

2018-03-09 10:04:00 UTC

that's not the law here at least

2018-03-09 10:04:23 UTC

number of times fucking cunts at our company have chucked sickies *the day of*

2018-03-09 10:04:28 UTC

leaving everyone else scrambling to cover

2018-03-09 10:05:01 UTC

One guy was asked to provide a doctor's certificate for the days he took off

2018-03-09 10:05:04 UTC

and he quit on the spot

2018-03-09 10:05:16 UTC

once again leaving everyone else scrambling to cover his shifts

A doctors note here is like a MOAB

Managers cannot do shit if you have a Doctors note

also EU Law makes people very difficult to fire

2018-03-09 10:10:52 UTC

that is a lie, I've fired lots of people - people think it's "hard" because they can't just fire people on the spot, but that's nonsense

2018-03-09 10:10:58 UTC

it's a persons life you're talking about

2018-03-09 10:11:54 UTC

the only thing you need to do is provide 3 written, signed letters where you point to a specific thing you've required them to do within a time period, that they haven't done, for example

2018-03-09 10:12:26 UTC

of course I've never had a firing challenged, but lawyer said I'm fine

depends where you work. If you got HR up your ass some people are just impossible to fire

2018-03-09 16:40:28 UTC

lol, yup

2018-03-09 16:40:40 UTC

like I said elsewhere, comments section is the fucking apocalypse

2018-03-09 16:40:48 UTC

legit surprised we're still discussing this in current year

2018-03-09 16:44:52 UTC

It's such a losing issue, too

2018-03-09 16:45:55 UTC

I legit believe that part of the reason Rs were able to make such a comeback was because of the generational changeover since the 1990s, where so many young people who grew up to be R voters/conservatives played video games just like any other teenager

2018-03-09 16:46:21 UTC

having older conservatives rail against video games all over again just makes them look as out of touch as the people who did it in the 90s over games like Night Trap

2018-03-09 16:46:42 UTC

And the Dems did the same thing against metal music in the 80s

2018-03-09 16:47:02 UTC

I mean, I'm sure there were Rs who went right along with the the campaign against metal music, but Tipper Gore was leading the fuckin' charge against it

2018-03-09 16:47:10 UTC

I think Bannon used to help Trump with these types of issues, make sure he didn;t look "out of touch" as you say

2018-03-09 16:47:21 UTC

mmm

2018-03-09 16:47:28 UTC

much as I find Bannon to be pretty fucking greasy

2018-03-09 16:47:32 UTC

you might still be right on that point

2018-03-09 16:48:42 UTC

Now everyone who advises him are the same old republicans who used to do this shit in the past lol

2018-03-09 16:53:12 UTC

I have seen that people claim data reflects what they claim though; that video games do have an effect on people becoming a little more violent. But I ask myself (without having looking at the data they refer to yet) is it the fact that video games have made people a little more violent, or the fact that violent people might be attracted to killing things in video games (among many other types of people)?

2018-03-09 16:55:48 UTC

So far, every study has shown no correlation between exposure of violent video games (or violent media in general) and violent behavior.

2018-03-09 16:56:32 UTC

So even claiming "we don't know the answer to that yet" is a big fat lie.

2018-03-09 16:56:56 UTC

I see

Glaciers are SEXIST

2018-03-09 17:43:04 UTC

It's just so silly; I've seen this time and time again with SJWs and feminists trying to argue the 77 cent or 1-in-5 arguments, citing 'studies' that have been widely discredited. Then suddenly it's "studies can't prove anything! listen to these anecdotal examples instead!" and so on. Walsh himself states " I don't care what your studies say" and I just slumped in my chair and groaned upon reading it. There are people calling for gun control saying the exact same things and arguing on nothing but emotive sophistry.

He also says things like "A person needs sunlight, human interaction, human experience, fresh air. It is depressing to live a life deprived of those things" which I reckon everyone here can agree to, but then tries to jury-rig such an agreeable statement into meaning "games are bad for you because you don't get these things if you are a gamer". Which is dumb. It is entirely possible for a person to deprive one's self of the above qualities without the ebil videogayme vortex sucking them all away from you.

2018-03-09 17:43:34 UTC

Why not try to argue that training in boxing, MMA, gridiron or any contact sport is also bad for you? Oh, right, the human interaction, got it. Nevermind that you're bashing into someone else on purpose. For enjoyment. For other people's enjoyment. And no, I'm not arguing against these things, considering I train some of them myself. I'm highlighting how asinine such a line of argumentation actually is.

I'm surprised he didn't refer to video games as 'murder simulators', but I guess he found other ways to emotively describe that which he is condemning.

2018-03-09 17:44:28 UTC

The irony, of course, is that if it was all about 'murdering people' then the layers upon layers of architecture that go into a *good* game that people *want to play* wouldn't matter. Most games give your human opponents just as much opportunity to 'get' you - and those few games that don't (eg Dead by Daylight) involve many players trying to escape from one in a completely fictionalised fantasy setting. Also consider that nearly all of these games are team-based, and that's usually the foundation upon which the rest of the game is created

This is before mentioning the number of 'survival' games that exist out there, extending all the way to 'horror survival' where you, as the player, have no alternative but to sneak, avoid and escape that which is trying to attack you

2018-03-09 17:44:59 UTC

And then you have all the games that either A) have you completely seperate from the violence taking place, in a commander's role (be it a WWII-based game like Hearts of Iron or an RTS like Command & Conquer), or B) have no violence in them at all (a huge market, not just limited to "The Sims" but includes various farming/construction/trucking/train simulators, role-playing games, sports games, city builders/'god games', and so on. Consider how popular games like 'Rocket League' are, as but one of many possible examples.

But nah. Silly pimply-faced gamurz jus' enjoy simulatin' killing peeple! Bad for you! stahp it! It might indirectly kinda-sorta turn you into a school shooter! Or at least make you sad!

Geez.

2018-03-09 19:50:33 UTC

I remember posting about this a while ago; good to see it's finally getting some traction

2018-03-09 19:51:41 UTC

I know Ben had heard about it almost immediately. Guess he was waiting for sufficient 3rd party confirmation

2018-03-09 19:54:06 UTC

yup.

2018-03-09 19:54:11 UTC

I found out about from a place called

2018-03-09 19:54:18 UTC

"The Conservative Treehouse"

2018-03-09 19:54:23 UTC

which isn't the most legit-sounding name

2018-03-09 19:54:33 UTC

But they had all the links to the claims they were making

2018-03-09 19:54:43 UTC

Like, actual sworn affidavits from police officers and everything

2018-03-09 19:54:53 UTC

lemmesee if I can go find it..

2018-03-09 19:56:27 UTC

`In 2012 and 2013 while doing research into the Trayvon Martin shooting we discovered an alarming set of school policies being enacted in Miami-Dade and Broward County Florida. The policies were called โ€œdiversionary programsโ€ and were essentially about stopping High School students from being arrested. Law enforcement was instructed to avoid arrests and defer criminal conduct to school administrators.

Students who engaged in violence, drug sales, robberies, burglaries, theft and other various crimes were intentionally kept out of the criminal justice system. County administrators and School Superintendents told local and county law enforcement officers to stop arresting students.

In 2012 Trayvon Martin was one of those students.

It is all well documented. None of this is supposition. Our research discovered sworn affidavits from the police department HERE. No-one was ever been held to account โ€“ it was just too politically dangerous an issue.`

2018-03-09 23:01:26 UTC

there's at least two good reasons for an institution to embrace such a framework, and neither are related to students welfare

2018-03-10 00:39:36 UTC

vegans get the bullet

2018-03-10 01:26:07 UTC

People got fined or something for that in the past, right? Animal cruelty or something.

2018-03-10 02:33:21 UTC

fuck basic animal biology

2018-03-10 02:33:35 UTC

let's impose my beliefs on animals

She can go to Prison for that in the UK

It would take me one hour

wouldn't send her to jail though

just ban her from ever owning an animal ever again

2018-03-10 11:37:23 UTC

Wasn't the 'international women's day' tied up in socialist/communist history too, just to top it off?

2018-03-10 11:37:46 UTC

or was that more of tangential thing

Women's day here was good

We talked about my Grandmother's my Mom my Wife

This is what I don't understand

They can call me sexist but I surround myself with women

It's 8 vs 1 sometimes

2018-03-10 13:04:57 UTC

I seem to recall feminists publishing articles on the days following his death, declaring him a horrible sexist.

2018-03-10 13:05:27 UTC

Does that mean he was a sexist? Probably not. <:LUL:372856126007410689>

2018-03-10 16:37:49 UTC

If I were him, I'd have written on my will, "wait a week, split my fortune among the whores that didn't badmouth me during that week."

2018-03-11 10:42:52 UTC

I've always wanted to know how Meghan can be so chill

I couldn't give any less fucks
