2018-06-07 18:10:16 UTC

why any dev would use windows is beyond me.

2018-06-07 18:10:17 UTC

I am actually pissed at microsoft for their new driver signing rules and their weird attempt at an anticheat tool for which they add a lot of useless callbacks in the kernel

2018-06-07 18:10:33 UTC

but other than that, windows is pretty decent, compared to the old days

2018-06-07 18:10:49 UTC

I still miss windows 7.

2018-06-07 18:10:50 UTC

XD windows ME

2018-06-07 18:11:09 UTC

same

2018-06-07 18:11:10 UTC

Lol

<:think_madpepe:378717098630971395>

2018-06-07 18:11:13 UTC

it's called trueplay and it can be disabled in the registry

2018-06-07 18:11:18 UTC

It is fine for end user. I am talking about devs.

2018-06-07 18:11:27 UTC

but it adds a lot of useless callbacks into the kernel

2018-06-07 18:12:23 UTC

@M4Gunner wot ide do you use?

2018-06-07 18:12:36 UTC

the problem with linux is that many people are unwilling to learn using it @Deleted User

2018-06-07 18:12:52 UTC

well its not a problem with linux perse

2018-06-07 18:13:12 UTC

There is a learning curve, thats right.

2018-06-07 18:13:37 UTC

And if you are a gamer, you will not be happy, so you need dual boot, or you have an own gaming pc anyway.

2018-06-07 18:13:37 UTC

but the city administration of Munich still cant use it after a decade.

2018-06-07 18:13:41 UTC

VS colors are a fucking travesty

2018-06-07 18:13:55 UTC
2018-06-07 18:14:05 UTC
2018-06-07 18:14:15 UTC

Have you insights on Limux?

2018-06-07 18:14:25 UTC

So youโ€™re not one of those โ€œI code everything in vimโ€ fags then @M4Gunner

2018-06-07 18:14:58 UTC

I am friends with one of the devs who are supposed to maintain it

2018-06-07 18:15:33 UTC

And not code like an autistic fuck?

2018-06-07 18:15:49 UTC

I think, with enough money, you can create a nice Open Source solution for public officials .

2018-06-07 18:16:30 UTC

So not vim?

2018-06-07 18:16:44 UTC

@Deleted User I actually misspoke, I know one of the LiMux devs not munix

2018-06-07 18:17:31 UTC

escape and :q my friends.

2018-06-07 18:17:57 UTC

number one question on stakeoverflow ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

2018-06-07 18:18:12 UTC

hardly anyone uses vim, so nobody knows.

2018-06-07 18:19:24 UTC

that is not true

2018-06-07 18:19:34 UTC

there is that type but they are not all like that

2018-06-07 18:19:43 UTC

Now you have Docker and you fags need to learn how write a shell script.

2018-06-07 18:20:12 UTC

@vapefruit The problem with Linux (from a Redhat 7.3 to modern Ubuntu user) is that Linux constantly breaks things that were working. It is a lot better than 10 years ago, but recently I was afraid to use apt-get ugrade on my machine because I knew something important would break for my dev setup. In the end I imagine the machine and decided to deal with the fallout

2018-06-07 18:20:28 UTC

And know the basics of how a (L)Unix system works.

2018-06-07 18:20:51 UTC

@EmEm are you Linux fan?

2018-06-07 18:20:57 UTC

No

2018-06-07 18:21:01 UTC

i suck at coding

2018-06-07 18:21:10 UTC

i can do a blue webpage

2018-06-07 18:21:17 UTC

But thats it

2018-06-07 18:21:23 UTC

@Deleted User you get the same with windows 10 now

2018-06-07 18:21:35 UTC

il just use windows as its ez

2018-06-07 18:21:41 UTC

thats sad.

2018-06-07 18:21:54 UTC

but you are a gamer and normal user, so I can understand it.

2018-06-07 18:21:55 UTC

@vapefruit NOPE! I haven't had an application break in over 15 years mate as long as it was using the proper Windows APIs

2018-06-07 18:22:40 UTC

@Deleted User that's great, I wish I could say the same.

2018-06-07 18:23:03 UTC

@vapefruit also I've used other unix system like FreeBSD and OpenBSD which don't have massive regressions

2018-06-07 18:23:08 UTC

My parents use also Windows.

2018-06-07 18:23:54 UTC

mv * /<#423219052849397773>

2018-06-07 18:23:58 UTC

Are they gone?

2018-06-07 18:23:59 UTC

@vapefruit what applications didn't work, because I hear this claim and 99% of the time they are applications that assumed they were running on a certain version of windows or they are games ... which do the same thing

2018-06-07 18:25:47 UTC

Just use mac, best system

2018-06-07 18:25:54 UTC

*Popcorn*

2018-06-07 18:25:56 UTC

@EmEm
Weak bait

2018-06-07 18:26:03 UTC

Mac OSX is fine, but Apple is milking you.

2018-06-07 18:26:04 UTC

oh trust me

2018-06-07 18:26:06 UTC

it works

2018-06-07 18:26:09 UTC

See'

2018-06-07 18:26:14 UTC

Lol

2018-06-07 18:26:18 UTC

It is based on BSD afaik.

2018-06-07 18:26:21 UTC

@EmEm I use a mac most of the time.

2018-06-07 18:26:21 UTC

@Deleted User that's usually the problem with them breaking

2018-06-07 18:26:54 UTC

It actually worked, congrats for it

2018-06-07 18:27:00 UTC

@Deleted User we had a lot of cams break due to the windows anniversary update.

2018-06-07 18:28:22 UTC

I think Apple charges you like 2 times the price just for being an Apple product

2018-06-07 18:28:56 UTC

But you get a nice touchbar.

2018-06-07 18:29:04 UTC

a friend bought the new iphone

2018-06-07 18:29:08 UTC

1.2k euros

2018-06-07 18:29:23 UTC

i also bought a new phone, 90 euros

2018-06-07 18:29:27 UTC

what? I will never spend more than 500โ‚ฌ on a phone.

2018-06-07 18:29:30 UTC

does the same shit

2018-06-07 18:29:38 UTC

I'm including the touch bar in the price. It still costs 2 times it's worth

2018-06-07 18:29:40 UTC

@EmEm but who has more swag?

2018-06-07 18:29:51 UTC

My phone was 100$

2018-06-07 18:29:51 UTC

Well

2018-06-07 18:29:56 UTC

i wont starve

2018-06-07 18:30:12 UTC

@Baraban it was meant to be sarcastic, the touchbar is completely unnecessary

2018-06-07 18:31:10 UTC

I know some big Apple fans and they say, peak Apple is over. They have to deliver in future.

2018-06-07 18:31:30 UTC

@EmEm you mean you won't loose weight like your friend

2018-06-07 18:31:44 UTC

Yea

2018-06-07 18:31:48 UTC

wich is a good thing

2018-06-07 18:31:54 UTC

as im only 47kg anyway

2018-06-07 18:32:01 UTC

I'd spend 500$ on a phone if I thought I really needed that for some reason. But for most purposes my 100$ Xiaomi seems to work perfectly fine

2018-06-07 18:32:12 UTC

So I see no reason

2018-06-07 18:32:53 UTC

He has a discord?

2018-06-07 18:33:06 UTC

@EmEm are you somali?

2018-06-07 18:33:17 UTC

Sargon doesn't

2018-06-07 18:33:27 UTC

No im swedish

2018-06-07 18:33:39 UTC

I use Fedora, it runs without tech tips, despite the fact being a playground distro for Red Hat.

2018-06-07 18:33:51 UTC

@EmEm I am so sorry to hear that

2018-06-07 18:34:21 UTC

You are German @vapefruit. Glashaus?

2018-06-07 18:34:59 UTC

why is everyone sorry for me living in sweden lol

2018-06-07 18:35:06 UTC

its not so bad

2018-06-07 18:35:44 UTC

@Deleted User fair enough

2018-06-07 18:35:50 UTC

yeah, most of American alt media is exaggerating problems.

2018-06-07 18:35:53 UTC

@Deleted User I gave up with Fedora after loads of third party apps assumed you used Ubuntu. In the end I've learned to love whatever version of ubuntu is LTS. Shame because CentOS / Redhat Enterprise Linux is used in most dev places and it helps to know the redhat tooling
