Form check on 365 warmup. I think my butt may be rounding in or itโ€™s my hoodie not sure

2018-02-16 21:36:39 UTC

@peytonT#2360 I didnโ€™t see any butt wink

2018-02-16 21:57:26 UTC

Thanks. Second opinions really help

Planned on competition pauses but feel like I rushed.. thoughts?

2018-02-16 22:20:51 UTC

@peytonT#2360 Do you get leg drive with just your toes? I'll try that tomorrow to see how it feels.

I spread my legs wider, and keep my feet flat to the ground.

@Tyler0317 I have my legs like that because I find it lets me load my hamstrings the best and also makes it easier to me to breathe into my ribs on the descent

The constant tension I get from that lets me push through my hips for leg drive. Letโ€™s me keep my butt on the bench easier and keep my upper back and lats tight

2018-02-16 23:13:00 UTC

Squats look just about perfect to me. Your bar path and depth look good. I honestly don't see any butt wink either.
Bench looked good as well. I prefer to plant my heels on the ground when I bench since it provides for a more stable trunk and better potential leg drive but if you like keeping your heels up and the federation you're lifting in allows it, keep it up. The only critique I can give on bench is that it looks like you loose a bit of tightness on your bench when you pause (it's not bad by any means though). @peytonT

I like to implement 3 count pause reps or tempo bench after my main sets to address that

2018-02-16 23:20:57 UTC

I see what youโ€™re talking about on bench. My timing from leg drive to press was off a bit for the first two reps. Iโ€™ll have to pause my bar warmups to get timing down better

2018-02-16 23:21:51 UTC

Since Iโ€™m peaking again Iโ€™m reintroducing pauses now because the reps are lower. Iโ€™ll have to practice it a bit more in warmups to make sure Iโ€™m ready for maxing

Deadlift. These felt good. This was my first and worst set

2018-02-19 14:03:33 UTC

@peytonT#2360 looks pretty sharp to me

2018-02-19 20:10:50 UTC

Thanks. People tell me I drop my hips too low but I like my starting position

2018-02-19 20:49:01 UTC

Hips looks fine to me

2018-02-20 01:30:49 UTC

Hips look good but watch out for your knees. They are going soft at the lock out and even though it's super minimal, you might get red lighted at a meet depending on the judge

2018-02-20 04:40:38 UTC

I donโ€™t compete in the usapl

2018-02-20 04:41:35 UTC

Uspa all day

2018-02-20 05:49:59 UTC

Uspa will still call you on that

2018-02-20 14:49:20 UTC

Hasnโ€™t happened yet but Iโ€™ll keep it in mind, I want to compete again in about 6 months

This was my third set of five here. I'm comfortable with my form before then, but what's your opinions on my form once I'm beginning to get tired?

2018-02-21 23:17:25 UTC

Good squats. Really try to push through your heels, they're coming up as you go down

2018-02-22 00:13:21 UTC

Yeah, might help if you used oly shoes, especially since I'm assuming you squat high bar

2018-02-22 03:34:27 UTC

+1 on oly shoes. I use adipowers and squat high bar. They are fantastic and you can get them on sale ~$100 if you search

2018-02-22 03:55:46 UTC

I normally squat only in socks. Forgot to here lol

2018-02-22 04:21:45 UTC

I never understood the lift in socks meme

2018-02-22 04:42:12 UTC

I use the Reebok lifters and they were only like 90

2018-02-22 04:42:53 UTC

People lift in socks because you get more contact with the ground and don't have a soft shoe throwing off your balance/making your area you are pushing off smaller

best angle for form videos for squats or bench press?

2018-02-22 17:36:18 UTC

Squat would probably be side, hip level angle. Bench would be directly in front and right above imo

2019-01-04 17:15:56 UTC

@everyone How do I make a private YouTube channel for this? I thought I'd attach a video directly but Discord maxes out attachments at 8MB.

2019-01-04 17:23:13 UTC

I think you would want to make a separate, anon google account and then when you upload, you have the option for public, private, and unlisted.

2019-01-04 20:50:23 UTC

@Ben - OH Is diesel so he must be doing something right.

2019-01-08 02:45:15 UTC

I can't view the video :(

2019-01-08 02:47:36 UTC

yeah, not opening on my phone either

2019-01-08 07:01:13 UTC

oof.

2019-01-08 07:14:08 UTC

You seem to want to move forward on recovery

2019-01-08 07:14:37 UTC

maybe having your front foot out more will help

2019-01-08 07:16:20 UTC

having a more aggressive stomp would help too

2019-01-08 07:16:46 UTC

That makes sense, I tend to lose the bar forward a lot.

2019-01-08 07:19:21 UTC

the side view at 3:28 is a great example

2019-01-08 07:19:48 UTC

even at maximal weight, he's aggressive and stable

2019-01-08 07:28:43 UTC

A good que might be to really try and refrain from any pressing of the weight and focus on driving with the dip and front rack and dropping under to catch

2019-01-08 07:29:14 UTC

would help with the dip and drive and catch/lockout at the same time

2019-01-08 07:30:50 UTC

Thank you so much @Deleted User ! Lot of good advice!

2019-01-11 01:04:15 UTC

@Matthias sorry for the late response โ€” is an anonymous google account with a private upload safe enough to show my face in? Or would I also need to conceal my face in any videos I upload?

2019-01-11 01:37:38 UTC

I'd err on the safe side.
