Newspeak

2018-01-27 00:17:34 UTC

whilst the word Liberal means freedom

2018-01-27 00:17:47 UTC

Leftist?

2018-01-27 00:18:09 UTC

Too many leftists consider themselves liberal.

2018-01-27 00:18:18 UTC

yes

2018-01-27 00:19:03 UTC

I mean like Antifa becoming fascists even though their name implies opposing them

2018-01-27 00:19:10 UTC

but thats like saying freedom of speech in Europe

its only free if you say what the people in charge agrees with

2018-01-27 00:19:59 UTC

More like โ€œthe right to not be offendedโ€.

2018-01-27 00:20:28 UTC

Yeah.

2018-01-27 00:21:07 UTC

I mean, one thing I noticed was how European laws seem to be written with the naive idea that people will not exploit laws with vague or subjective descriptions.

2018-01-27 00:21:16 UTC

something people forget is that somehow these people who have the right to not be offended, can still offend others

2018-01-27 00:22:10 UTC

Making use of hate speech laws to make something illegal to criticise

2018-01-27 00:22:25 UTC

well the naivety comes from this illusion that the west is the epicenter of "the good guys"

and since the governments in europe are "the good guys" they'll be good and wise enough to supposedly "not" exploit these vague definitions of laws

2018-01-27 00:23:52 UTC

and since they're the good guys that care for everyone good, the only people that can disagree (or criticise) are bad people, since good people would love that they care for everyone, hence only people who criticise are bad, hence should be punished cuz they're bad

2018-01-27 00:24:41 UTC

I mean, Id like to know how long these laws were in place.

2018-01-27 00:25:05 UTC

And which countries dont have these laws.

2018-01-27 00:25:27 UTC

about the same time ago as when it became appearant to a bigger and growing group of people that the great establishment no longer has the naitive peoples interests in mind

2018-01-27 00:25:30 UTC

In the US, I dont see anyone getting arrested for sperging out an opinion.

2018-01-27 00:25:58 UTC

Poland doesn't have that yet

2018-01-27 00:26:15 UTC

at least as far as i know

2018-01-27 00:26:42 UTC

Hmm, I wonder

2018-01-27 00:27:18 UTC

The US... Would you say it has the closest to the truest definition of FoS?

2018-01-27 00:27:38 UTC

Probably

2018-01-27 00:27:41 UTC

Thing is, whatmakes having it true is kinda subjective

2018-01-27 00:27:52 UTC

Like what, FoS in the US means the govt cant stop you

2018-01-27 00:27:57 UTC

well theres a youtube clip of Poland police charging and beating up an antifa group, and they reject those syrian refugees, so they're atleast not part of this clique of governments with anti-criticism laws

2018-01-27 00:28:03 UTC

How about private institutions like say, social media

2018-01-27 00:28:16 UTC

Then itโ€™s not so free.

2018-01-27 00:28:36 UTC

Thatโ€™s market freedom but without enough anti-trust laws.

2018-01-27 00:29:01 UTC

Well, it's funny that the common defense is "well, social media companies are private corporations, so they can kick off whoever they want", yet when it comes to baking a cake, suddenly that's discrimination and wrong.

2018-01-27 00:29:25 UTC

Rules for thee and not for me.

2018-01-27 00:29:28 UTC

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

2018-01-27 00:29:32 UTC

Pun intended.

2018-01-27 00:29:34 UTC

only when a christian baker does it

2018-01-27 00:29:41 UTC

Muslim bakers get no issue from the media

2018-01-27 00:29:51 UTC

Well, it was just virtue signalling

2018-01-27 00:29:52 UTC

Oh yeah, that'd be racist and harassment.

2018-01-27 00:30:03 UTC

something people can protest against with no cost to one self

2018-01-27 00:30:12 UTC

exactly

2018-01-27 00:30:30 UTC

Im sure theres a better way to go about looking into the social aspects of it.

2018-01-27 00:31:06 UTC

Hell, even Milo found the whole thing silly and went into the background of the whole thing. He really does not like the Gay community.

2018-01-27 00:31:39 UTC

no one does

2018-01-27 00:31:57 UTC

I think everyone should have to follow FoS laws not just the government. It would be very beneficial to the country.

2018-01-27 00:31:59 UTC

I mean, the only reason the Christian Bakery lost that court case is because they Doxxed the gay couple.

2018-01-27 00:32:14 UTC

They did?

2018-01-27 00:32:17 UTC

They launched a full scale harassment campaign against them

2018-01-27 00:32:19 UTC

That changes everything

2018-01-27 00:32:25 UTC

Evidence?

2018-01-27 00:32:27 UTC

well then its not about FoS anymore

2018-01-27 00:32:34 UTC

if its true

2018-01-27 00:32:54 UTC

I didn't hear about that.

2018-01-27 00:33:41 UTC

Dunno, Ill reserve judgement until I see it

2018-01-27 00:33:46 UTC

Did they actually do it, or were they getting harassed the same way "Jordan Peterson sent harassers" after the debate?

2018-01-27 00:33:49 UTC

Cause I never heard about that at all

2018-01-27 00:34:13 UTC

but the thing is, FoS laws should apply to the government only in theory

the government has to keep the peace (which would protect people from being mobbed) and stuff like doxxing etc is illegal already, so the law (in theory) should protect it too.

FoS doesn't mean i have to like what you say, it means you have a right to say it.
if a person is behaving like a jerk using their FoS, i have every right to disassociate myself from them

2018-01-27 00:34:38 UTC

thats how its supposed to work

2018-01-27 00:34:39 UTC

Free market of ideas.

2018-01-27 00:34:43 UTC

exactly

2018-01-27 00:34:54 UTC

Yeah, but what happens when private corporations all decide they no longer want to service you?

2018-01-27 00:35:45 UTC

You make new services.

2018-01-27 00:35:55 UTC

well due to the dependency of the internet, i would like to see some reforms to certain platforms

but in theory it would basically be like the 2nd episode of futurama

"Oh i'm not allowed here? well i'll start my own service, with blackjack and hookers"

2018-01-27 00:36:22 UTC

Itโ€™s important that monopolies are broken up though.

2018-01-27 00:36:34 UTC

yes, to encourage competition

2018-01-27 00:39:09 UTC

but the problem with internet companies is that its instant global

in the past you could just move and start your own service somewhere else, and gain trackion amongst the local people (cuz your competitor hasn't settled there yet) and you could thrive, grow and compete

You can't for example compete with twitter easily cuz on the internet they're everywhere already so they're in a dominant position, their stupid policies drive people away though and those can be picked up as clients for places like Gab, but the majority will still stick to twitter, meaning gab's growth is severely staggered

2018-01-27 00:39:13 UTC

same with youtube and competitors

2018-01-27 00:40:13 UTC

and the only way to compete properly is to offer something similar they don't have yet, which is hard too online since everyone can just copy it too

2018-01-27 00:41:02 UTC

Part of the problem is most people donโ€™t care about politics and their rights.

2018-01-27 00:41:22 UTC

So many still use the platforms and donโ€™t make a fuss.

2018-01-27 00:42:22 UTC

well, they don't care until it affects them personally

2018-01-27 00:42:34 UTC

Well yeah.

2018-01-27 00:42:50 UTC

Yeah.

2018-01-27 00:42:59 UTC

I'm in that boat too, i got dragged into this political sphere due to the Gamergate incident

2018-01-27 00:43:30 UTC

and i hate it, it consumes my time because i have to stay up to date to make sure people don't start using the government to infringe on my leisure time

2018-01-27 00:43:37 UTC

Same.

2018-01-27 00:43:43 UTC

I just wanted to be left the fuck alone.

2018-01-27 00:44:12 UTC

Now I feel the urge to redpill the fuck out of any normie I meet

2018-01-27 00:44:35 UTC

Same thing.

2018-01-27 00:44:37 UTC

Personally I love politics.

2018-01-27 00:44:59 UTC

Would never get into politics but I like discussing it.

2018-01-27 00:45:00 UTC

The Gamergate incident dragged me into politics, along with this latest election cycle with Trump.

2018-01-27 00:45:09 UTC

Well, I just didnt like being lied to in general. I hate it when I found out how much the media lies.

2018-01-27 00:45:30 UTC

Well, wasnt the lying, just how blatant they were.

2018-01-27 00:45:50 UTC

Also, GG

2018-01-27 00:46:08 UTC

A few friends Redpilled me

2018-01-27 00:46:25 UTC

Remember to take the suppliment first,

2018-01-27 00:48:10 UTC

I wouldn't even care for the lies, i'm smart enough to see through most of it, what drew the line for me was the point where games that you have to strangle, shoot, club, murder, butcher, annihilate, kill etc were branded sexist because some people found they had women who could be killed (thus anti-wamyn) or they were sexist for not including enough women who were perfect but not perfect

2018-01-27 00:48:20 UTC

It started with Tumblr. Me and my fiancee thought it was just an isolated part of the internet that we could occasionally laugh at.

2018-01-27 00:48:38 UTC

Eventually we discovered that it's everywhere, coming straight out of college campuses.

2018-01-27 00:49:20 UTC

Well I was looking at it from the game dev perspective

2018-01-27 00:49:29 UTC

if killing women is sexist, how about not having them?

2018-01-27 00:49:36 UTC

well tahts my point

2018-01-27 00:49:47 UTC

if you exclude them, you're also wrong because you're not "inclusive" enough

2018-01-27 00:49:58 UTC

THen what? Make them invincible or perfect? Thats not good writing

2018-01-27 00:50:07 UTC

so its a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" case

2018-01-27 00:50:21 UTC

I know.

2018-01-27 00:50:24 UTC

Basically I decided fuck the haters, I put in what I want,

2018-01-27 00:50:33 UTC

invincible/perfect characters are so boring

2018-01-27 00:50:40 UTC

I love creators that dont give a shit

2018-01-27 00:50:47 UTC

Itโ€™s also why Star Wars is so shitty now. Could call it moviegate.
