Shawshank was the bomb though
i watched the walking dead.... for like 3 seasons.
i think it was 3. idk, when did the governor show up?
AMC's TWD is joke
that isn't funny
it shat on everything that made the comics great
like World War Z
seriously
yeah that was nothing at all like the book
how can you make a movie with fast zombies then say its based on a book with slow zombies when the writer has said in interviews that the zombies are slow for a fucking reason
tbf that book reads like a text book so it was kind of a bad idea to make it into a movie imo
its a bunch of interviews
yeah, it feels more like a history book imo
well it is the oral history of the zombie war
yes
i think you could have made it into a movie by just filming the parts, using the interviewer as a narrator, then just end with that last scene in the north with him interviewing the people hunting zombies in the spring thaw.
the 'entertainment' business is incredibly bad at adaptations
yeah you could have done that, what they did was.. just wrong
Sin City, Scott Pilgrim.. and tbh LotR were pretty great adaptations but outside of those there isn't much
the first 3 eps of American Gods was perfect actually then it went wayyyyyy off track and became hot garbage
could have made a sequel then to where it covers the person who made the zombie survival guide as he is writing it.
but no, had to make a generic action flick where you need to inject yourself with a lethal virus to save yourself from a lethal virus
they sure did fuck up Preacher too
that said, there was some good scenes in WWZ. but they were too quick.
I'd love for them to do Fables but I'm pretty sure they'd fuck that up too
eh, idk. gf and i like preacher. BUT i haven't read the comics.
well, she has
i haven't
i think it sucks regardless but my lord what an insult
half these adaptations never even get a chance because the casting is all wrong
eh, didn't mind TWD either. But i've never been the biggest fans of comics. The stories themselves i usually like... mostly. the longer they go on the more bs they become until the basically reboot with some comic trope.
well 'the stories themselves' is *exactly* why you should read the comics, lol
that was what TWD is all about
it doesn't have to be frame by frame or beat by beat but at least get the casting/characters and feel/mood right ffs
and it's not impossible, like I said- Sin City was a perfect adaptation in almost every way and Scott Pilgrim was too
There is just something about the style of comics writing that just irks me and pulls me out of it.
really?
ALL the comic writers IN THE ENTIRE WORLD you are just going to carelessly lump together?
that's laughable mate
and extremely short-sighted
read Ed Brubabker, Brian Michael Bendis, Brain K Vaughn
then come talk
the protest had nothing to do with this
#realnews
why
Cuz shock value and clits
XD and da joos dont forget about our precious joos
wat
Ok what and why
we need a channeld called #realnews or not-the-onion
We have a channel for real news, it's <#463052764382101506> ๐
oh, that no, i mean a channel for news that seem fake over how ridicule they are but they are not fake
Ah
So a blackpill channel
are those roofies?
Less pass out more crippling depression
@Joey4Track (POLEMIC HEART) yes because it has to do with the entire medium of comics. It is literally that it is a comic. Idk why, I can't explain it. Literally make it a movie or give me a novel but a comic? Idk why it just does nothing for me. Which is annoying because as I said I love the stories.
crippling depression, is that from that crazy fuck that was eating dog shit in youtube?
@Grenade123 manga is objectively better than anime tho. Checkmate atheists
I would have to care about either to make that call.
There's actually good stuff to be found in there if you're willing to look
And if you're already willing to watch modern cinema it's not like you're going to notice anything but a jump in quality anyway :^)
He couldn't ruin that anthem tho
novels are objectively better than all of the above
Generally, yes
i mean, there are always exceptions.
Well visual and auditory stimuli both create powerful emotional responses
You're not always going to get the same reaction out of a book
Because even when you're in your reading groove you're not as connected as if you were trying your damnedest to simulate being there
i think that depends on the person
I think it more so depends on the work
i think my problem with comics is its like half way between a visual element and a written element.
I've thrown a book to the floor as an adult, I haven't had to stop watching a film since I was 12. I've cried at books as an adult, I haven't cried at a film since I was 14 or so. I think books do a better job at tapping into your emotions than films do.
i would agree
i've been more emotionally invested in most books than movies
definitely.
they also feel like they can go on for much longer periods than movies or shows without losing interest
I think that has more to do with the quality of modern film
Like mostly my issue with film is that it's too passive, but I also just play vidya instead, which is also audiovisual
I don't think it is to do with new films not being as good as old. I think it is to do with the medium of a book.
1 book usually covers as much if not more than a movie, and it can sometimes take several comics to cover the same amount of story distance as them.
It heavily depends on the book and comic
And it'll cover more than a movie, but not necessarily more than a series
a single book won't cover more than a series, but a series of books will cover so much stuff.
Like a movie will cover more than a short story. Length within medium is a thing
A series in film/television can as well
Like here's the thing, you're talking to someone who genuinely doesn't like VA in RPGs because I'd rather use an internal character voice and have more lines
But I'm also not going to discount the impact of music and visuals
You've played Homeworld right?
like i said, i have no clue why comics don't do it for me.
and i have not although i should
You should
there is plenty i should read/watch/play/etc
Homeworld is like 0 to Emotional Investment in mere minutes
It would never work in a book. It only works because everything comes together
jfc tim "i'm a big anime fan" `5 minutes later` "...boruto and dragonball super"
you normie
Yeah I was disappointed by that as well
