i would agree

2018-08-27 22:07:10 UTC

i've been more emotionally invested in most books than movies

2018-08-27 22:07:28 UTC

definitely.

2018-08-27 22:07:40 UTC

they also feel like they can go on for much longer periods than movies or shows without losing interest

2018-08-27 22:07:58 UTC

I think that has more to do with the quality of modern film

2018-08-27 22:09:18 UTC

Like mostly my issue with film is that it's too passive, but I also just play vidya instead, which is also audiovisual

2018-08-27 22:11:56 UTC

I don't think it is to do with new films not being as good as old. I think it is to do with the medium of a book.

2018-08-27 22:13:00 UTC

1 book usually covers as much if not more than a movie, and it can sometimes take several comics to cover the same amount of story distance as them.

2018-08-27 22:15:52 UTC

It heavily depends on the book and comic

2018-08-27 22:16:07 UTC

And it'll cover more than a movie, but not necessarily more than a series

2018-08-27 22:16:48 UTC

a single book won't cover more than a series, but a series of books will cover so much stuff.

2018-08-27 22:16:49 UTC

Like a movie will cover more than a short story. Length within medium is a thing

2018-08-27 22:18:01 UTC

A series in film/television can as well

2018-08-27 22:19:06 UTC

Like here's the thing, you're talking to someone who genuinely doesn't like VA in RPGs because I'd rather use an internal character voice and have more lines

2018-08-27 22:19:23 UTC

But I'm also not going to discount the impact of music and visuals

2018-08-27 22:19:47 UTC

You've played Homeworld right?

2018-08-27 22:19:56 UTC

like i said, i have no clue why comics don't do it for me.

2018-08-27 22:20:00 UTC

and i have not although i should

2018-08-27 22:20:07 UTC

You should

2018-08-27 22:20:19 UTC

there is plenty i should read/watch/play/etc

2018-08-27 22:20:24 UTC

Homeworld is like 0 to Emotional Investment in mere minutes

2018-08-27 22:20:51 UTC

It would never work in a book. It only works because everything comes together

2018-08-27 22:20:51 UTC

jfc tim "i'm a big anime fan" `5 minutes later` "...boruto and dragonball super"

2018-08-27 22:20:53 UTC

you normie

2018-08-27 22:21:01 UTC

Yeah I was disappointed by that as well

2018-08-27 22:21:13 UTC

And I think he praised Legend of Korra too

2018-08-27 22:21:19 UTC

Tim for the love of god just torrent the stuff

2018-08-27 22:21:22 UTC

he did i literally just heard that bit

2018-08-27 22:21:36 UTC

I didn't have the heart to listen to it again to confirm

2018-08-27 22:21:57 UTC

Never meet your heroes, they probably like Boruto

2018-08-27 22:22:23 UTC

lmao

2018-08-27 22:22:48 UTC

i haven't watched a single second of boruto to confirm that it's bad but i just assume that it is

2018-08-27 22:23:20 UTC

I watched Naruto because a friend wouldn't shut up about me watching it. Got to forest of death on potato quality before stopping

2018-08-27 22:23:42 UTC

All I know is that Zabuza was a good boy and dindu nuffin wrong

2018-08-27 22:23:57 UTC

i watched naruto when i was a kid but just kinda stopped when i actually got into anime

2018-08-27 22:24:20 UTC

i know the entire plot though just because my friend bought me literally every ultimate ninja storm game

2018-08-27 22:24:23 UTC

like as soon as they came out

2018-08-27 22:24:24 UTC

lmao

2018-08-27 22:24:30 UTC

Btw, forest of death at old school potato quality is a dark green blur

2018-08-27 22:24:47 UTC

lmao

2018-08-27 22:25:29 UTC

While I'm sad quality has diminished I'm glad we're past fansub era
