Getting someone who has such a visceral emotional reaction to the idea of firearms to genuinely try to learn about their function and use is pretty difficult. Since their reaction is one of disgust and fear they tend to not want to hold the firearm correctly and tend to want to rush through all theoretical and practical lessons. They just want to get it over with like with anything unpleasant. Not really conducive to safe learning.
