It seems more effective than it is
The reason menslib works is because the issues they talk about are things blindly drilled into people's skulls already, unfortunately the general populace doesn't hold the same opinion regarding men's issues
But what I'm saying is that menslib doesn't really work
I'm trying to think though, because a thing like MensLib only really works based on the size of feminism (and just barely at that) I feel like anything else would quickly fade into obscurity
I share Abbysol's opinion on this
The cross-section of people who could find that useful are way too small
So I can't see that sort of community working out
an ask an MRA thing could be interesting if it doesnt exist already but I feel like that would just be repetitive stupidity and trolling and baiting.
I'm almost positive there's an ask an MRA sub
And there is also FemRA
I think menslib kind of acts like a gateway to wider MRM
Menslib is where people who could be concerned about men's issues go to be brainwashed
/Looks at mens lib... da fuck is this shit? /looks for something better
Most People who come there will find where it's fault lines lie and will jump ship
I think you really have to have come across the real MRM somehow in order to jump ship from that. For instance, I found it after watching Cassie's documentary.
but since real men's issues basically aren't talked about there
And I mean it actively tries to direct attention away from them. You can search the sub for Homelessness, Divorce, Domestic Violence, or stuff and find 2-3 results from years back. Actually 3 results was for Homelessness, the most discussed topic of the three.
So you aren't going to find the MRM through that
It's deficiencies are utterly evident
Ive seen a few people post on the MRM sub that came directly from Menslib because they where so disappointed
To find menslib you really need to be looking for a men's issues sub anyway, so if you find that one instead of a real one, it's only gonna be subverting some people away. If it didnt exist they would find men's rights anyway
Some people will be convinced enough to stay on menslib and buy into their crap
And that's the thing. I'm pretty sure people don't get dissatisfied with the MensLib way of doing things without first coming across the MRM
wouldn't know though, I am banned from r/feminism
I got banned from legaladviceuk for posting in men's rights
Compare the active users of /r/MensLib to something really, really fringe like /r/Antinatalism
Not posted in feminism
we need to put efforts mainly to chip away people from Lib
@Indigo the only way to do that is not to post in the sub itself but to speak up when anyone mentions menslib outside of the sub. Not that I think its particularly worthwhile doing.
I feel like the goal is not to aim at feminists but to aim more at normal people, I feel like most people are rational but only hear one side and dont really want to have to go out of their way for anything, is why I lend out my books and The Red Pill movie so much, since anyone I have lent it too has come back with "yeah, I see your point", the problem is also trying to come across and not trying to shove it down their throats either... it's all very complicated >.<
I'm actually worried it is something that would catch on as an idea
trying to convince a feminist of anything is trying to tell water not to be wet, there is no reasoning with crazy
Oh, there is a way
You fight crazy with itself
I feel like fighting crazy with crazy will just end up with 2 lunatics screaming at each other from such a distance that they can't actually hear each other
Possibly
It's something we could refine quite quickly.
Make it so that only conspiracy members can post topics
but anyone can comment
The thing is to get them to read our stuff - and they are so isolated as to not really know what our stuff is
I went on that against sub once... I felt like they where looking at a completely different movement then the one I was a part of :T
Yes
@Abbysol yep. They mostly fish in the comments
In fact, I think they post them themselves
Hmmmm
I would die without reddit, where else would I get my fix of cute animals doing dumb shit? D:
but that is going to be a hella small community
I see, so even 1/week for a few months would do
fuck I love Aww
Try /r/eyebleach too!
already on
and Rarepuppers
and animalsbeingderps
And /r/watchpeopledie
you mean PeOpLeFuCKingDyinG?
Nope xD
While some top comments from WPD are short, I think it would be hard to farm karma there
now /r/idiotsincars on the other hand...
Is there menslibbers on this server
Oooh
Probably not
Nah, this was only advertized on /r/mensrights, and only for a relatively short time
Specs guy is here I think
yeah, he is
Eeps
keep general open, maybe have a separate channel for proven members
@Abbysol yeesh, 'proven members' makes us seem like the SS or something >.<
sorry, I mean like, รฟou have been here 1 day and havent said anything, so we have no idea where you actually stand"
like essay writing tools or some shit
But SPECS would mostly just call this silly. He understands that /r/mensrights is pretty antifeminist and would say that the nice feminists he cares about wouldn't really be affected by this sort of thing, since they aren't anti-equality.
I've had a lot of rum tonight, feel free to ignore anything I say xD
Oof... Don't remind me of alcohol! I really want some vodka but my diet doesn't allow it rn :<
A friend of mine said all you need is 2 drinks to fix the world xD
because you are drunk enough that you get into it but not so drunk that you are completely incoherent, lol
Lol
Stopping at just two is the hard part methinks >.<
idk, I've been told I have an alcohol problem, but it's only a problem if you think it is ^^ (I am a horrible person xD)
In other words, it's not a problem for you, just everyone else lol xD
exactly, except my dad... because I can never pour myself one without him asking me to get him one too xD
Just wanted to post this since it was an add that ran on TV here, proof that things are changing
Slowly but surely, we'll get there
Whatโs the fastest way to grow this discord? From regular conversations many people have MRA views, but actually unifying them or getting them to join discord is like 40% successful
I think we should ask goodmod to put it in the subreddit sidebar
Iโll message someone one now hopefully the understand
Message someone you want to get to come here you mean?
No to have them add it to the side bar
Goodmod comes here
When you said goodmod I thought you meant good mod XD nvm then
Iโll continue to keep sharing this discord hopefully it gains some traction
๐
I actually have a html button that could be used in the sidebar for the discord @goodmod
If you are up for the idea!
Hey yall
Howdy @RandyLahey .
