Georgia Senate election hearing is live now
As if you had a choice in the matter
@JD~Jordan you brought up the whole discussion of good for society versus good for the individual ... now you seem to unwilling to recognize that some times the two don't coincide ... again I'm naรฏve but not that naรฏve ... not saying I disagree with your morals just saying I understand there are instances where there are no good choices, just less bad ones
(Also Sprach Zarathustra)
Also what? ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ๐
(Nietzsche)
When you reach the bordes created by morals you experience massive pain and anger.
Ahhh I see
(if you are a reflecting person)
Not at all what I said. Sorry you misunderstood. I am more than happy to address most any issue.
However, when there is a fundamental conflict in basic facts such that "stoning women to death because they were raped" is not a real problem - then there is no basis to search for common ground.
Now, if you are telling me that stoning women to death because they were a victim of rape somehow benefits society then please do so.... I would love to hear it.
@JD~Jordan You want the argument that lead to the practice?
rephrase that for me no clue what you mean
Well it seems to be infidelity was a massive problem threatening societal structure when Mohammed dictated his book. Making women property was one way to deal with this.
Yeah, I think we can all agree rape and murder are reprehensible actions.
Doc, do you think that RAPE is a form of infidelity on the part of the woman that was raped? Fucking really?
โOne wayโ. It was an option. Was it the best option for all parties? No.
@JD~Jordan I am explaining the etiology of sharia law. I am not in any shape or form explaining my personal views. Why would you confuse the two???
You are avoiding the issue
What is the issue?
Itโd definitely be to your benefit to make a more clear distinction between your personal view and describing something.
@yetiCodes, you just advanced to level 10!
Are you suggesting that, in this example, that stoning women to death for being raped is beneficial to a society as a whole?
Yes or No (feel free to explain - but please preface your respond with a yes or no)
I dont think it is very important what MY opionins are, as I hold no leverage what so ever, and would not want one, but if they, for some reason, are important to YOU, then feel free to ask.
no he's hitting it straight on and it disturbs you ... disturbs me too but I understand what the issue is
@JD~Jordan I have no opinion what so ever on what is beneficial for a society. I, personally, dont like any form of human society. I prefer to observe it from afar. I therefore have no normative opinions what so ever. That said, what you describe sounds like a very brutal and narrow minded society, I would probably leave it, just as I have left the social democratic system.
Ive asked several times now doc.... And you have been stating your opinions several times... so why you wish to back out now I have no idea
I am not backing out of anything. You feel I have not answered your question?
real world story
I was doing work under a government contractor. I pointed out to my higher-ups that contractually mandated paperwork was being submitted that was 100% untrue stating that contractually mandated testing was being performed per the contract.
I might not have pointed this issue out if the said above was not causing major issues.
I was pretty worked up about it.. I went up the chain of command until I reached a partner in the company, after informing him I was summarily fired for being antisocial. , per my letter of separation. I am unsure what could be more anti-social than not performing a contractually mandated obligation on a gov contract.
Ok, so are you capable of giving a straight answer?
How about this... instead of your opinion.... can you highlight any logical reasons that stoning women for being raped would benefit society?
@JD~Jordan, you just advanced to level 9!
@JD~Jordan I presented you with the logic leading up to that exact legislation, as I find it in the documents of those system. Did you not see that?
Insane testimony!
๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ
you're confusing logical with moral ... there might be a logical reason for something that is immoral
Explain
No. Please just give me the reason that you believe might benefit a society by stoning rape victims to death. I see none. So by all means enlighten me
@JD~Jordan again, I have no normative opinion on any society. I can only refer you to how fundamentalist muslims argue this case.
From what Iโve seen the pendulum keeps swinging between moral and logical so itโs hard to pin down anything to discuss further.
another dodge
@JD~Jordan I have no belief connected to how a society should or should not be run. How is that so hard to understand?
Ive read the Koran...
So have I. And the Hadiths.
That seems like a cop-out. ๐ค
It is
@yetiCodes how so?
Like a politician. ๐
total copout
May have misunderstood the testimony you were referring to.
it's easy to understand but hard to accept
@yetiCodes That is not correct. Politicians tell you what you want to hear. I am telling you what I found after a very painful and 30 year long walk.
Because even though I donโt live in that culture I can objectively assess the action of rape as a destructive action and can denounce that practice.
@yetiCodes well, then I am just more of a humanist than you, because what I see is that humans are destructive. I accept that.
perhaps it's the very fact that you don't live in that culture that you can do that
There we go! You answered the question.
See... you have been giving your beliefs and opinions all morning... until you are backed into a corner and then you say that my opinion isn't really important @Doc
I consider that intellectual dishonestly
@yetiCodes great!
@JD~Jordan I dont feel cornered at all. Note that I have shared observations, not opinions.
It is important to know the difference.
You have?
Hum... interesting
@JD~Jordan Yes, those are observations.
Well you said "in my opinion...."
๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ
@Beth, you just advanced to level 14!
well, if you want to split hairs, you win. @JD~Jordan
๐
๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ perk of being a neutral third party I guess.
So play this silly little game all you want but Im done with it because you are being intellectually dishonest.
he actually said what was NOT his opinion
@JD~Jordan you have already retired 5 minutes ago. Just before accusing me of copping out. ๐
you are the one splitting hairs saying your opinions (tho you yourself called them that) are actually observations... but whatever.
@JD~Jordan Yes. That "opinion" is the result of such experiments as Milgrams.
and comparative behavioral studies.
and Standford prison experiment.
and the entirety of the 20th century...
lol
and so on and so forth.
sorry misread .. thought he said "not"
@meglide A figure of speech. It is also my opinion that Kaplan-Meier plots are important when studying Mortality.
Did anyone see anything about some "get the vote out" programs in GA are being investigated for trying to get out of state people to vote in the upcoming Senate runoffs? That is disconcerting.
That does seem crazy. It's one thing to say look at these voter rolls they didnt clean them up and remove people that were alive and died or moved out of state and we fear they could have votes in the election. It's something much weirdernto claim they are getting dead voters to get added to the rolls or people that moved. The enrollment part is the difficult bit where you have to prove you love in the state and are a legal voter with the lighter scrutiny being when you cast your vote usually.
Now the US senate is holding hearings on hunter and Joe Biden? This doesnt seem politically charged and desperate
When is the political system ever not political?
Yeah... its clearly to undermine Biden's presidency. Which is sad, but not shocking
I think theres a fair bit of politicking that goes around that goes beyond attacking the other side at least
It's because there's a definite smoking gun there! He currently has no presidency.
Him not being the president is a smoking gun?
No. His very suspect financial connections with Ukraine and China are a smoking gun
LOL oh please....
But Trump's actually bank accounts in China and business with Moscow was not?
I get you think he has ties to foreign money but how is that linked it not being inauguration time yet? Ukraine/China money = not sworn in as president yet is an odd direct comparison

Rittenhouse's hearing is beginning
