Soft Exit instead of Hard Exit would kill all trade deals basically with United States.

"If they do that, their trade deal with the US will probably not be made because we have enough difficulty with the European Union," Trump told The Sun.

Trump cares for a strong UK, if a strong UK is beneficial to the US economy,
If he can trade with the UK 1 on 1, he can get the best refined deals, and have a strong trade ally
Hence he wants them seperate, and succesful, cuz that is simply most beneficial for the US
