The ruling legitimized federal authority

2018-09-28 05:36:04 UTC

Roe v. Wade allowed the federal gov to say every state should feel the same way about x because they said so?

2018-09-28 05:36:14 UTC

Yes

2018-09-28 05:36:24 UTC

Okay, that helps

2018-09-28 05:36:35 UTC

That's my take anyway

2018-09-28 05:36:35 UTC

And abortion was just a bi-product of it

2018-09-28 05:36:37 UTC

If I thought strongly 1 way or another that a. abortion was murder or b.abortion wasn't murder I wouldn't want its legality decided by arbitrary state law

2018-09-28 05:37:04 UTC

I'm a centrist reformist though

2018-09-28 05:37:08 UTC

Death penalty is state by state

2018-09-28 05:37:11 UTC

Mileage may vary

2018-09-28 05:37:52 UTC

So I think maybe abortion should be controlled a bit more with federal guidelines and states hold up a bit. But it now seems clearer roe v wade was a states rights issue in the end

2018-09-28 05:38:24 UTC

Roe vs Wade is entirely predicated on privacy

2018-09-28 05:38:38 UTC

The Court ruled 7–2 that a right to privacy under the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment extended to a woman's decision to have an abortion

2018-09-28 05:38:42 UTC

from wikipedia

2018-09-28 05:39:09 UTC

Okay so I think I remember within their home they talked about abortions with women?

2018-09-28 05:39:12 UTC

basically yeah, and the third trimester thing is because that is when a woman starts to "show" and it becomes public.

2018-09-28 05:39:31 UTC

I can see why evangelicals on one side hold their stance on that issue and why many feminists hold their opposite stance. It's 1 of the few issues i can see why both sides wouldn't want to comprimise an inch

2018-09-28 05:39:45 UTC

well Abortion is a state's issue.

2018-09-28 05:40:16 UTC

I'm opposed to abortion because I see the need for it as a symptom of hedonism.

2018-09-28 05:40:51 UTC

And I dislike hedonism.

2018-09-28 05:40:55 UTC

I am opposed to it personally, but 10th amendment is the 10th amendment and if a state votes to legalize it

2018-09-28 05:41:32 UTC

We are all human here, except you @Mee6 @YAGPDB.xyz & @Scarecrow

2018-09-28 05:41:33 UTC

10th amendment. Good constitution.

2018-09-28 05:42:06 UTC

Most people can only count to two.

2018-09-28 05:42:42 UTC

some can count to 4 but for some reason 3 disappears.

2018-09-28 05:42:59 UTC

tbh its not even hedonism that leads to abortion is freakin laziness and stupidity. how hard it is not to *** anyone unless they wear a condom,or use birth control and absent that take a morning after pill you have unprotected sex. It's cheaper and has less physical side effects to have a morning after pill then get an abortion

2018-09-28 05:43:27 UTC

but shout your abortion culture /s

2018-09-28 05:44:48 UTC

I think this is what is confusing to me: “After two years of hearing evidence, the Court invalidated the Texas law by a 7-2 vote. Using the same reasoning as the Griswold v. Connecticut decision, the majority of the justices maintained that a right to privacy was implied by the Ninth and Fourteenth Amendments. No state could restrict abortions during the first three months, or trimester, of a pregnancy.”

2018-09-28 05:45:06 UTC
2018-09-28 05:47:04 UTC

Promiscuity is a subset of hedonism.

2018-09-28 05:47:53 UTC

It's rarely healthy couples that get abortions

2018-09-28 05:47:58 UTC

Birth in the dictionary implies leaving off the womb

2018-09-28 05:49:00 UTC

So if you changed the meaning of born then you’d have to alter abortion law

2018-09-28 05:49:08 UTC

Consider the differences between miscarriage and stillbirth. I forget where the line is, but they're classified differently.

2018-09-28 05:49:20 UTC

the right isn't at good as the left at changing definitions

2018-09-28 05:49:29 UTC

Totally

2018-09-28 05:49:38 UTC

Right is more set in stone

2018-09-28 05:49:54 UTC

What do you call a black woman who's had 5 abortions? A crime fighter!

2018-09-28 05:50:12 UTC

because why change a meaning when you can change the word.

2018-09-28 05:50:13 UTC

Left pushes boundries, the right hold us steady

2018-09-28 05:50:55 UTC

@halfthink wasn't there a freakonomics thing that actually made that point.
