else, why not explain why south america is such a crap hole? They're more religious judeo-christian than the US

2018-10-24 18:47:35 UTC

measurement eror n shit can happen a billion times in a row, theoretically

2018-10-24 18:47:46 UTC

your argument makes no sense Dvir

2018-10-24 18:48:01 UTC

Because religion needs to be balanced with science

2018-10-24 18:48:09 UTC

religion is anti-science

2018-10-24 18:48:22 UTC

Yes, it is in the most formal sense.

2018-10-24 18:48:23 UTC

it stops science cuz it complains you're "Playing god"

2018-10-24 18:48:31 UTC

It does not meet the requirements for a testable hypothesis.

2018-10-24 18:48:35 UTC

i dono, it does not have to be

2018-10-24 18:48:44 UTC

They are two different realms

2018-10-24 18:48:53 UTC

We cannot test it, so we also cannot disprove it. To me, that makes it irrelevant.

2018-10-24 18:48:54 UTC

its organised religion that fucks with science cause they lose power, not because its against the religion per say

2018-10-24 18:49:17 UTC

We can test factual statements in religious texts, though

2018-10-24 18:49:23 UTC

It is ideology that fucks with science

2018-10-24 18:49:28 UTC

They do not have a good track record.

2018-10-24 18:49:28 UTC

sure

2018-10-24 18:49:41 UTC

but they are not intented to be taken literally by anyone except the most stupid

2018-10-24 18:49:44 UTC

Israel is a much more religious country than say Colombia, why is Colombia more shit? I don't think it has to do with being more religious.

2018-10-24 18:49:45 UTC

so quit doing it

2018-10-24 18:49:47 UTC

stupid

2018-10-24 18:49:48 UTC

Heres the thing,

We can burn all holy books, and science books today

And in 200 years, all the science books will say the exact same facts

The religious books will say something different

2018-10-24 18:50:11 UTC

But, we can also test the psychological impact of religious belief, which some of the most famous psychologists, like Carl Jung, have done.

2018-10-24 18:50:16 UTC

Unless you know, science changes and discovers they were wrong on something

2018-10-24 18:50:23 UTC

i said facts, not theories

2018-10-24 18:50:44 UTC

theories can change

2018-10-24 18:51:08 UTC

genders can not

2018-10-24 18:51:10 UTC

I think people conflate the scientific method with the current body of scientific knowledge.

2018-10-24 18:51:16 UTC

\o> dab

2018-10-24 18:51:31 UTC

Religion is an aspect of a culture

2018-10-24 18:51:31 UTC

Science books will look very different. There is a lot that we define in arbitrary manners.

2018-10-24 18:51:44 UTC

currently yes

2018-10-24 18:51:44 UTC

So of course religion changes

2018-10-24 18:51:58 UTC

exactly, but science doesn't

2018-10-24 18:52:02 UTC

```Heres the thing,
We can burn all holy books, and science books today
And in 200 years, all the science books will say the exact same facts
The religious books will say something different```
I can see why you'd think that, but there is much commonality when it comes to major religions, the basic teachings are very similar cross culturally and given that religion developed in every society on Earth, it'd probably be back in different flavors but a similar message.
2018-10-24 18:52:23 UTC
so they'll say something different 😮
2018-10-24 18:52:37 UTC
Different views of the same truth
2018-10-24 18:52:38 UTC
Yes, there are psychological aspects to religion that are surprisingly common cross culturally.
2018-10-24 18:52:46 UTC
religion offers no truth, thats why its a religion
2018-10-24 18:52:46 UTC
That is why I find Carl Jung so interesting.
2018-10-24 18:52:47 UTC
Gnosticism and Dharmism share essentially the same fundamental principles
2018-10-24 18:52:50 UTC
dvir is just using the common tactic to keep trowing spagets at the wall till one sticks, spagets being platitudes heard and talked about dozens of times before
