It's that thing he pays others to do, right?
It's when your personal chef makes the food in another building and a servant brings it to you
But if he's ordering a feast for other's its McDonald's...
Has everyone seen this yet
no
Some people in the world don't even have computers, much less internet
Important stuff to understand, if we wanna unfuck the intellectual property situation in the world
Dreaming big, I like you.
But first you have to kill The Mouse...
Rn, even the biggest anti-establishment candidate would be dead in the water if they suggested loosening the patent and IP laws
I think it won't happen until we have governments
Which do more to stop creation and help big corpos profit than to protect creators
> until we have governments
As opposed to trainwercks?
Something like that ye
IP has continually proven to be a disaster in the patent area as well.
I mean, info anarchism is a good refuge until we solve that, but it's just a refuge.
Remember how 3D printers exploded on to the scene? Patents expired making them widely usable.
Patents *expired*?!
Egads!
Companies were sitting on that shit doing nothing with it until they expired.
Joerg Sprave made a good vid on why patenting doesn't work well for individuals too
Think of it this way.
Humans respond to incentives and we naturally are drawn to power. Some more than others.
In a system where you are incentivised to fizzle out any competition there's absolutely no incentive for truly free expression. There are degrees of course but I guess this is the gist of it.
I am just interested in freedom to express my small sparks of genius, that's all
I would like that too
Most people don't
Power, money, all of that, is just a side effect
🤷♂️
At least nobody seems to be talking about extensions on IP anymore but they really need reigned in. Being held back by somebody sitting on or poorly developing a patented product for 20 years was bad enough ages ago but with as fast as things move now tech being locked behind a patent for 20 years is an eternity.
Smartphones are a good example
Similar problem until it was released into the freemarket
Anyway, signing off, gotta wake up early and make Poland function despite lockdowns
And copyright should go back to the original 14 years, maybe even axe the 14 year extension they used to be able to apply for.
Back in the day when copyright was 14+14 years almost no industry bothered applying for that extension.
If you can't figure out how to monetize your work in 14 years you dun fucked up and you don't deserve a lifetime+70 years.
