First he's probably not in charge of if he sells stocks or not, usually you have someone else manage it, second 1.6 million dollars is likely only a portion of whatever he owns, third it's not crazy to respond to the market if it goes up and down even if you aren't paying attention as to why. The fact panic is the biggest problem right now, and panic changes the market, doesn't mean he's wrong about the corona virus not being as big a deal as people are making it out to be. The flu killed more people last year than Corona has so far, so, no he's not wrong in that it won't be that big of a deal, disease wise. The Corona virus is not causing the market to collapse, it hasn't infected the computers, it's people's panic and response to it that is causing all of this. If people weren't panicking, then the stock market would likely have been just fine, so financial impacts is not the same as disease impacts.
