Fortunately, AR and VR seem to be merging as of late.

Augmented Reality with overlay

Reality < virtual world

2020-03-26 15:30:11 UTC

The real world sucks

2020-03-26 15:30:16 UTC

Makes it easier to spot targets that survived

2020-03-26 15:30:27 UTC

The Valve Index has two 1080p passthrough cameras, and full AR potential given the frunk compartment.

2020-03-26 15:30:46 UTC

AR helmets exist

2020-03-26 15:30:56 UTC

Why separate the function of AR and VR?

2020-03-26 15:31:00 UTC

Microsoft and Boeing helmets are the best RN

2020-03-26 15:31:32 UTC

Boeing will pull info in front of you when you look at the thing

This was the overwatch clip

2020-03-26 15:32:02 UTC

Carmack is a robot btw.

2020-03-26 15:32:02 UTC

The man is very eloquent

2020-03-26 15:32:03 UTC

Boeing helmet tracks user's eyes and you can use your gaze as a mouse pointer

2020-03-26 15:32:08 UTC

So does VR.

2020-03-26 15:32:35 UTC

I don't see much use in full VR other than games

2020-03-26 15:32:44 UTC

I am not too interested in games

2020-03-26 15:33:04 UTC

Modern HMDs use eye-tracking to seamlessly down and upscale rendering resolution. Effectively, way more efficient with no quality loss.

2020-03-26 15:33:19 UTC

The only thing thats changed is that your peripheral, is low resolution. Something that you can't notice.

2020-03-26 15:33:33 UTC

I want to see magnetic fields, thremal vision, part names, instant dimension readouts with an AR helmet

2020-03-26 15:33:42 UTC

Get nods.

2020-03-26 15:33:44 UTC

Enhanced human vision

2020-03-26 15:33:49 UTC

Literally nods.

2020-03-26 15:35:15 UTC

thank you

2020-03-26 15:35:21 UTC

All of my privilege points.... gone!

2020-03-26 15:36:29 UTC

im surprised she looks so black

2020-03-26 15:36:45 UTC

you would think she would be one of those black people who barely look darker than a white person with a tan

2020-03-26 15:37:32 UTC

I really don't get how people refuse to understand that nods are LITERALLY AR devices. Modern NVGs can have thermal and other provisions installed with just a bit of R&D. Plus, they're fucking cool.

2020-03-26 15:38:15 UTC

AAAHHHH that's what you get for basing your entire identity around your skin colour white girl

2020-03-26 15:38:25 UTC

They don't really have the fancy processing of microsoft AR tho

2020-03-26 15:38:27 UTC

You don't exactly want an AR helmet, you want easily togglable glasses or goggles. If a bullet we're ever to hit that helmet, it would send glass directly into your face. Nods don't do that.

2020-03-26 15:38:31 UTC

They can, with time.

2020-03-26 15:38:54 UTC

Microsoft helmet has laser scanner so it can tell you the dimension of a thing you hold in your hand

2020-03-26 15:39:17 UTC

Is it not logically conceivable that you could implant that technology into nods?
