I am sad his talent is for the betterment of Facebook.
He'd do much better work elsewhere.
It’s going to VR tho
So it isn’t that bad
Not the right kind of VR.
Overwatch does not really appeal, it just has heroes that will do things for you even if you scuk
Facebook's idea of VR is to eventually virtualize everything including your home, box you up in a 6ft square apartment and have your entire life, including your brainwaves, go directly to Facebook to store.
We don't need VR
Do NOT use Facebook-based brain-computer interfaces.
We need AR
VR is good tho
Torbjorn is still popular
Fortunately, AR and VR seem to be merging as of late.

Reality < virtual world
The real world sucks
Makes it easier to spot targets that survived
The Valve Index has two 1080p passthrough cameras, and full AR potential given the frunk compartment.
AR helmets exist
Why separate the function of AR and VR?
Microsoft and Boeing helmets are the best RN
Boeing will pull info in front of you when you look at the thing
This was the overwatch clip
Carmack is a robot btw.
The man is very eloquent
Boeing helmet tracks user's eyes and you can use your gaze as a mouse pointer
So does VR.
I don't see much use in full VR other than games
I am not too interested in games
Modern HMDs use eye-tracking to seamlessly down and upscale rendering resolution. Effectively, way more efficient with no quality loss.
The only thing thats changed is that your peripheral, is low resolution. Something that you can't notice.
I want to see magnetic fields, thremal vision, part names, instant dimension readouts with an AR helmet
Get nods.
Enhanced human vision
Literally nods.
