@LEER yes, but there is also a lot more starving artists. or those who are unemployed or barely living. Typically a command economy wants to keep people busy. You are given a job or they make one. But not everyone can be an artist. And they people who can be, probably already have a job you gave them and you have no idea they are a good artist because they don't really have time outside of a hobby.

you can have artists in the free market because you let the system make itself be efficient as that's its natural aim. Efficiency means more for less. This leads people to have more, to be able to spend on things that are not food, thus supporting and artist OR allows someone to support their artist friend while they struggle.
