@JustTom here is the thing though. How can a party completely stand for the very polar opposite of what it historically is viewed as standing for? it sounds more like the liberals as a collective never actually stood for their stated belief but simply stated they did hypocritically, which would be easier to do a 180 on stated beliefs that you don't hold then to change what you stand for that easily
