and that is why i say it will never really work

2018-11-11 03:54:16 UTC

When a room is just slightly projected in a way that is unexpected to our visual cortex, it can cause extreme nausea.

2018-11-11 03:54:30 UTC

not until we're either creaing holodeck shit, or beaming directly to the brain

2018-11-11 03:54:35 UTC

But it is only until we move that the effect becomes really apparent.

2018-11-11 03:54:45 UTC

Well, it does work.

2018-11-11 03:54:56 UTC

Good VR sets do a great job, but the best VR is usually still CGI.

I need to call out Tim’s final assessment of the “red flag” gun laws. If you don’t fight for your rights they will be taken away and never given back. Just because the law says they “might” give back your guns doesn’t mean they will as they can extend the order indefinitely. As for complying with current laws and voting to change them if you don’t like them, we can see how well that’s going with the elections in Florida right now. When the right to vote no longer has sanctity and neither does the 2A you don’t have any alternative but to reject laws that go against your constitutional rights. If we were talking about the 1A and you could start going to jail for saying mean things I feel Tim wouldn’t say that people should roll over and comply with that so I don’t know why we should with the 2A. Rant over

If it's a simple projection of a scene or surface that is not meant for this, it leads to projection issues.

2018-11-11 03:55:22 UTC

by "not work" i mean not be popular over a sustained period

2018-11-11 03:55:26 UTC

it comes and goes in fads

2018-11-11 03:55:29 UTC

every time

2018-11-11 03:55:31 UTC

BTW, you can create this nauseating effect even if you just mess with the code in a 3D engine.

2018-11-11 03:55:49 UTC

If, for example, your projecting is mathematically slightly off, you get really strange fish lens effects, etc.

2018-11-11 03:56:36 UTC

Usually, you have a certain cone of projection from which you project onto the rendering surface. If the field of view is too broad, you get a fish lens like effect and your brain is confused.

2018-11-11 03:56:54 UTC

THere is a huge amount of processing going on in your brain. The image is by no means communicated one to one.

2018-11-11 03:57:19 UTC

I think we will get it right soon.

2018-11-11 04:05:18 UTC

I'm done here.

2018-11-11 04:05:33 UTC

2018-11-11 04:06:57 UTC

i dont doubt that if the gay population grows

2018-11-11 04:07:08 UTC

the need for children will grow so they can raise kids

2018-11-11 04:09:16 UTC

Hmm ... I can't find very many studies on this topic.

2018-11-11 04:09:37 UTC

There are a few studies on motion sickness from the 90s, but then things just kind of dropped off.
