You did, not the guy who started this debate

2018-11-23 14:35:20 UTC

That is not just to hedge their bets against a declining economy.

2018-11-23 14:35:21 UTC

right, but you were arguing it was capitalist, which was the point I was debating

2018-11-23 14:35:26 UTC

and now everyone is debating it lol

2018-11-23 14:35:26 UTC

Socialism, planned capitalism

2018-11-23 14:35:32 UTC

Literally all it is

2018-11-23 14:35:35 UTC

no, socialism is by definition not capitalism

2018-11-23 14:35:40 UTC

The government creates shit

2018-11-23 14:35:44 UTC

People buy it

2018-11-23 14:35:44 UTC

Which is why we now have the term Marxist, because there are communist parties calling their version of socialism communism.

2018-11-23 14:35:47 UTC

"planned capitalism" wat?

2018-11-23 14:35:49 UTC

production != capitalism

2018-11-23 14:35:55 UTC

holy balls

2018-11-23 14:36:21 UTC

I am actually not sure what to call some of the mixed economies in China.

2018-11-23 14:36:30 UTC

There are markets, to some degree.

2018-11-23 14:36:47 UTC

@Undead Mockingbird considering the government owns controlling shares in major private business, is it fair to call it a market?

2018-11-23 14:36:47 UTC

Capitalism requires private property (both in goods and personal stuff) + right to profit off trade

under socialism, your property belongs to the state, ergo it can't be capitalism

2018-11-23 14:36:57 UTC

I am not sure if you add any explanatory value by assigning these kind of terms.

2018-11-23 14:37:15 UTC

As long as you characterize each aspect correctly, what you call the whole is secondary.

2018-11-23 14:37:33 UTC

Just becuase the shares are owned by the government, does not mean 100% of shit is decided by the government

2018-11-23 14:37:36 UTC

the term is predicated on the combination of aspects

2018-11-23 14:37:37 UTC

Btw

2018-11-23 14:37:40 UTC

the sum total of decisions

2018-11-23 14:37:48 UTC

No, but deciding things is not what makes a system capitalist

2018-11-23 14:37:57 UTC

ownership determines capitalism

2018-11-23 14:37:59 UTC

No, it's probably not fair to call it a market, as a whole.

2018-11-23 14:38:00 UTC

But like hey

2018-11-23 14:38:10 UTC

the government owns businesses, land, and the means of production overall

2018-11-23 14:38:11 UTC

Let's just say your right beeman

2018-11-23 14:38:26 UTC

What do you call a market, run by the government?

2018-11-23 14:38:39 UTC

You're both wrong, codes and beeman

2018-11-23 14:38:44 UTC

But, it is a market insofar as you have freedom to market products/service and freely make purchases as a consumer.

2018-11-23 14:38:49 UTC

Has there been any confirmation from the FBI stating that they do indeed label the proud boys an extremist organization with ties to white nationalism? (I mean beyond the general "we give state governments things to watch out for all the time" statement)

2018-11-23 14:38:53 UTC

China knows socialism can not work for state profits,

So they technically lease their companies to managers/CEO's etc to make profit for the state and those people can have a share of the earnings to live a comfy life

2018-11-23 14:39:06 UTC

I guess you can say that there are "pockets" of free markets.

2018-11-23 14:39:12 UTC

cuz the companies are part of the state

2018-11-23 14:39:15 UTC

Beeman, china is not communist even if their party is communist

2018-11-23 14:39:19 UTC

>freely
so china will allow competition for state run/owned businesses?

2018-11-23 14:39:21 UTC

Communism requires a classless, stateless society

2018-11-23 14:39:22 UTC

I didnt say it was communist

2018-11-23 14:39:25 UTC

I said it was socialist
