China Telecom (中国电信集团公司), for example, is state owned.

2018-11-23 14:42:44 UTC

its private businesses free market controlled by Xinpings inner group

2018-11-23 14:42:54 UTC

it's not private if it's owned by the government

2018-11-23 14:42:55 UTC

What they do, though, is issue shares that can be publicly traded.

2018-11-23 14:42:57 UTC

by definition

2018-11-23 14:43:10 UTC

no its "privately owned by members of the chinese communist party"

2018-11-23 14:43:12 UTC

Those usually appear in stock exchanges in Hong Kong (H shares), Shanghai and Shenzhen.

2018-11-23 14:43:13 UTC

thats what they call it

2018-11-23 14:43:26 UTC

@Walsp It's not capitalist if the public isn't allowed to own and sell it

2018-11-23 14:43:27 UTC

the reality as we all are aware is not private

2018-11-23 14:43:29 UTC

which is a distinction without a difference

2018-11-23 14:43:31 UTC

I am not really sure what to call this.

2018-11-23 14:43:45 UTC

It's socialism with a pink ribbon on top

2018-11-23 14:43:55 UTC

its capitalist if its a "Free market " but we know they monitor it

2018-11-23 14:44:02 UTC

I suppose it's all hybrid nowadays.

2018-11-23 14:44:08 UTC

yes

2018-11-23 14:44:08 UTC

Allowing people to own minor shares in a company doesnt mean it's a hybrid

2018-11-23 14:44:13 UTC

Then I guess America is not capitalist

2018-11-23 14:44:20 UTC

Heavily monitored

2018-11-23 14:44:20 UTC

they use a Hybrid system of it but not completely

2018-11-23 14:44:22 UTC

so how much of Monsanto does the state own?

2018-11-23 14:44:34 UTC

Walsp actually gets it

2018-11-23 14:44:37 UTC

there was a article on it but i fear it is propaganda

2018-11-23 14:44:43 UTC

Be warned

2018-11-23 14:44:44 UTC

Maybe not by itself, but there are many other aspects that I think would muddle the distinctions.

2018-11-23 14:44:52 UTC

what china says its system is can be lied about

2018-11-23 14:44:55 UTC

I think those are non-voting shares.

2018-11-23 14:45:08 UTC

And what our news feeds have on this is also possibly skewed

2018-11-23 14:45:17 UTC

We may disagree but he actually gets it

2018-11-23 14:45:29 UTC

Idk dude

2018-11-23 14:45:34 UTC

Ask gingabomber

2018-11-23 14:45:40 UTC

@Cody
how much of Monsanto is owned by the US Govt?

2018-11-23 14:45:43 UTC

I talked about this exact thing

2018-11-23 14:45:56 UTC

I dont even care who Monsanto is

2018-11-23 14:46:07 UTC

I ain't buying shit products

2018-11-23 14:46:15 UTC

cap·i·tal·ism
an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.

2018-11-23 14:46:16 UTC

But just because the government has companies it controls does not in itself preclude a capitalist system, I think. Sure, there is an unfair advantage, but I think it's hard to find a system that has absolutely pure markets.

2018-11-23 14:46:17 UTC

Cause I define s capitalist economy

2018-11-23 14:46:21 UTC

Economic reforms introducing market principles began in 1978 and were carried out in two stages. The first stage, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, involved the decollectivization of agriculture, the opening up of the country to foreign investment, and permission for entrepreneurs to start businesses.

2018-11-23 14:46:25 UTC

This is what china did

2018-11-23 14:46:29 UTC

>doesnt know one of his own country's major corporations
>wants to discuss markets
holy fuck
