I find monarchs in the west disgusting,

They get a royal salary
They're allowed to gain interest,
AND all their expenses are paid for by the government (aka the taxpayers)

So the monarchy is making money, and spending none

probably not, if the family abdicated or the UK became a republic I dont see the govt doing anything other than taking most of their properties, well.... those properties deemed part of the institution of govt. and public land anyway

his children inherit the wealth, and its up to the people to decide whether they wanna keep them as royal, or force them to abdicate
