Diversity quotas are for the University's sake. It's so that they can virtue signal about having a large population of minority students, and thus get more donations and more students

it's not virtue signalling

They ultimately don't care, i mean the administration etc might,
But the chairman/board that makes the calls on such matters do it for the money,

A school with a good reputation attracts students and donations cuz:
"Its a good school, we need to support it"
and
"If i can claim i'm from this school" its good for your career

and being a "caring school, where everyone can learn" is a good tag to have in leftist circles

companies are actually avoiding people with degrees or particular colleges because of the reputation it has nowadays

yeah, thats the shift thats happening now

If you can claim you're from Harvard in America

many places will lock you in the hiring room until you accept their job and an immediate pay-raise

Cuz "ooh he's from Harvard"

Its a social opinion shift

In the 50-90's, having gone to college meant you could get a high paying job in wherever, cuz "ooh, college"

but colleges saw a good market in it so they just branded anything to be a valid college study,

So now many people take (as my family calls it) "College courses in knitting", the useless degrees etc, gender studies/arts/social studies and stuff
And in their heads its "Oh i now have a COLLEGE degree", completely unknowing to the fact that a degree is simply a piece of paper, it's dependant on how said learned trade contributes to society that is what is valuable

and new businesses, with people who are aware of that, are no longer considering people with such degrees cuz they know "yeah, your degree is as useful as toilet-paper"

well most of the value of a degree came from the fact that only 10% of the population could even apply and successfully get in

now that they've turned them into mills pumping out people with fancy pieces of paper, the overall standards have had to drop to accomodate these new people.
