@coattailsandbowties that my friend is absolute horse shit
That has to be a substandard condition of living
it is. this property is absolutely awful.
there's mould fucking *everywhere*
Surely there must be some legal grounds that you can push it?
Again I'd say plastic and tape
I've never heard of a landlord imposing an electricity limit, that seems strange
nah this is what I want

Yeah no that's not on, speak to the university & citizens advice bureau
@lolfire it's fairly common with the big companies that do letting to students.
Seems like it would do something
That would probably work
It won't cut off if we go over but everything over all gets saved up and taken out of our deposit at the end of the year.
which is fucking BULLSHIT
Jeez
Oof
especially because the house is garbage, all the windows are single pane.
Wait. no that's actually not on, they can't touch your deposit for anything aside from physical damage to the property, isn't that why the gov brought in the tds?
This is why I hate renting. It's not your property and you can't make it your own
nope, the deposit, once withdrawn from the protection scheme, can be claimed partially or fully by the lettor to cover any costs incurred by them relating to the property as long as it abides by the terms of the contract.
as they've stated what they can take money from the deposit for in the contract, they can do so.
As a landlord I can say I will not touch your deposit unless you break contract agreement or if you leave a shit in my fucking kitchen sink
Not every landlord is nice
these are big letting companies catering directly to students, they prey on the fact that we won't know any better.
And it appears Coats is a cunt.
Most around my area are shite
"or if you leave shit in my sink" makes me think of dirty dishes
plus competition is a bitch, they push you to sign or they'll sign with someone else
I basically just wear a fluffy jumper and uggs at every available moment
Surely there should be some law to protect students and first time buyers
nope.
Rip
Nope
I'm renting out to some students right now other than making the house smell like pot they are wonderful renters
the only protection is knowing, because knowing is half the battle
don't forget they have to make money too, big lettors like this do it by taking advantage because they don't communicate with us on an individual basis.
and rely on students not knowing what's up.
hi
I've heard in some areas there's one or two land lords who price fix and shit
