That our will in some respect is uncaused

2020-03-19 02:37:57 UTC

Assuming free will exists is the most coherent option we have.

2020-03-19 02:38:47 UTC

That way we can kick the shit out of people who act like assholes instead of being forced to leave them alone because they didn’t “chose” to do it.

2020-03-19 02:39:01 UTC

Philosophically we still ought to justify/explain it.

2020-03-19 02:39:23 UTC

By face value it's easiest to assume we have it

2020-03-19 02:39:54 UTC

In the same way that in our every day life we act as if the earth is flat, but everything is more complicated as we go up in complexity.

2020-03-19 02:41:18 UTC

Is it acceptable for your definition that the source of the free will is not caused, but is the cause? Because my definition of what a subject is is basically the sum total of causes that ultimately cause action to be taken

2020-03-19 02:43:28 UTC

If Free Will is say, the cause, then God still is the First Cause because He Himself made the Concept of Free Will

2020-03-19 02:44:12 UTC

That's what Eoppa said referring to Molinism I think

2020-03-19 02:44:32 UTC

Molinism?

2020-03-19 02:44:37 UTC

Molinism is something a bit different

2020-03-19 02:44:44 UTC

Imma Google that

2020-03-19 02:45:06 UTC

And I say God at every moment sustains our free will

2020-03-19 02:45:17 UTC

ughh

2020-03-19 02:45:26 UTC

I am ragequitting this conversation

2020-03-19 02:46:11 UTC

Free will and the modal collapse argument are two things I think I can contribute to if I write something longer and more fleshed out. If not free will then hopefully the modal collapse argument.

@Revolt Against Everything there's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya about the raising of the wrist, Socrates himself was permanently pissed...

Yes

2020-03-19 20:38:35 UTC

No

2020-03-19 20:38:46 UTC

Well. Maybe. "It's complicated".

- Where would you draw the line between insanity and creativity?

2020-03-19 21:17:15 UTC

When are hurt or in close danger of being hurt as the result of the persons creativity/insanity

2020-03-19 21:22:11 UTC

They are the same thing, one is when society views it positively, the other negatively

2020-03-19 21:53:02 UTC

@Attika at the profit margin.

2020-03-19 22:32:13 UTC

when u see what benifits we got from hitler and all nazis sht

2020-03-19 22:32:20 UTC

u understand that it was worth it

2020-03-19 22:33:03 UTC

but when u only see that hitler is killing people because u think with your heart and u cant imagine that there is benefits

2020-03-19 22:33:21 UTC

then u are close minded

2020-03-19 22:33:28 UTC

otherwise

2020-03-19 22:33:32 UTC

u would try to understand why

2020-03-19 22:33:37 UTC

hitler is a good person

2020-03-19 22:33:39 UTC

and so

2020-03-19 22:33:49 UTC

learn and upgrade your knowledge

2020-03-19 22:34:06 UTC

because open mindness = research of the truth/ knowledge

2020-03-20 10:21:10 UTC

Person above must be kidding.

2020-03-20 10:22:31 UTC

It is simply unnatural for people to only think with their minds and not with their hearts also. You, at this very moment, do think with your heart, but you are denying its beliefs, even though you shouldn't. The benefits of killing people were very few, and could've been achieved otherwise.

2020-03-20 10:23:33 UTC

This whole "don't think with your heart, think with your mind" thing is just so wrong and so unnecessary. Yes, you should focus on thinking with your mind, not listening to your heart, but really, every thinking person could realize that killing people, regardless of the feelings such action generates, is wrong.

2020-03-20 10:23:52 UTC

Violence is only justified when used to overthrow violence, and that's not the use we see in Nazi Germany.

2020-03-20 10:24:30 UTC

Now of course, calling Hitler a good person is like calling Alexander the Great a Slav. I don't think I need to go in detail on why he was a mentally ill and unstable person, should I?

2020-03-20 10:25:48 UTC

His very history and past show signs of literal autism (not joking), mental instability and lack of socialization. It's now random how people who don't know how to socialize tend to have more Authoritarian beliefs. And if you read about Hitler's past, you'll see why he held the beliefs that he held.
