how do you know there isnt?
@Spider Sutra what is your definition of success?
it's pretty clear where I'm going with it.
and yes that is not my answer
I know there is a right way to live because it is the way to obey all 5 precepts of NML, along with the other 7 secondary ones within today's society
@TheAnecdotalMisogynist I mean success is up to the individual in my opinion. For myself, I feel success is determined by what you share with others.
so you wouldn't have any issues with your city hosting the worlds biggest pig fucking festival?
@Airman Zeno why do you think the 5 precepts are the right way to live? or facilitate the right way to live?
@TheAnecdotalMisogynist Uhhh idk I've never considered it ๐ So long as people weren't getting dick infections I guess I don't really care.
Because they are an indivisible unit of cultural knowledge. You CANNOT continue as a society without obeying them
why does continuing as a society necessarily have anything to do with living the right way?
the two are literally the same thing
why couldn't living the right way involve the destruction of society?
> I guess I don't really care.
okie dokie. This is why western civilization is falling.
The Chinese might like their bat soup a little bit too much, but not even communist authoritarian hell holes would think that's okay (for obvious reasons).
Because society is inherently order
You're using different language to describe them so I don't see how they're the same. One deals with society, one deals with the individual .
There's hardly a difference
@TheAnecdotalMisogynist hey bats WERE giving people weird dick infections so obviously I wouldn't promote that ๐
Decadent societies lose social trust and degenerate into every-man-for-himself mentalities.
This actually leads to economic collapse.
They are prescriptive for both the macro and micro scale
@Airman Zeno Society is order?
ideally
so not inherently
Order is morally better than chaos
๐คจ
civilization
civil
the active word
denoted order
aka, not the jungle
yeah ok i fucked that part up
society is ordered by definition
no worries I'm just trying to understand your position
I don't know that it is.
It depends what you mean by ordered
i was more saying that i dont consider our society to be moving towards greater order
like Rome
dissolution
I want to switch my approach here for a minute, itll still get at the topic
Everyone has a place that they belong in society
I don't know that you can really call something disordered vs ordered, beyond how most people have a propensity to organize things.
many of the past problems in society came from the fact that they tried to define places based off of birth
peoples abilities determine their place
so you think that economic systems which allow full individuality aren't 'ordered'?
