2020-01-29 23:55:24 UTC

Don't just complain, be constructive

2020-01-29 23:55:44 UTC

Just general decency

2020-01-30 22:02:16 UTC

I was assigned to write a story, I kind of want to do a story about an eastern orthodox monk, so I can learn more Orthodox philosophy myself.

2020-01-30 22:03:54 UTC

Not sure what I would write about

@Religion **Daily Question**

Under the United States constitution, churches/religious organisations are exempt from a church tax being imposed by the federal government. Is this acceptable considering the United States is a secular liberal country?

2020-01-31 00:45:49 UTC

In the secular liberal framework no, because a church is like any other business or organization to them

2020-01-31 00:49:18 UTC

I believe it's acceptable and the logic behind not taxing churches is solid to me

2020-01-31 00:49:59 UTC

Most churches arent megachurches trying to influence policy

2020-01-31 00:50:18 UTC

as much as i'm not religious i wouldn't want churches to be taxed

2020-01-31 00:50:28 UTC

it's difficult as is to run a religion run purely based off of donations

2020-01-31 00:51:08 UTC

I dont even believe in religion and I respect their right to practice their beliefs

2020-01-31 01:48:39 UTC

I mean, I don't care if it conflicts with a shitty liberal worldview. Churches should not be taxed.

2020-01-31 07:10:55 UTC

based pastor

2020-01-31 15:02:36 UTC

Why do people not want witnesses?

2020-01-31 17:53:39 UTC

no-one to snitch on ye

2020-01-31 18:08:22 UTC

Churches add to social cohesion which is worth the lost tax income. At least in principle.

2020-01-31 18:08:50 UTC

@Kichev It's hard for normal churches to survive as is just off of donations

2020-01-31 18:10:26 UTC

Exactly, having to not pay taxes lets them survive and function. That function is worthwhile for the government

2020-01-31 18:12:13 UTC

Donations are usually tax-exempt no?

2020-01-31 18:12:18 UTC

So why should they be taxed?

2020-01-31 18:12:22 UTC

It runs off of donations

2020-01-31 18:12:40 UTC

There's other taxes, no?

2020-01-31 18:13:00 UTC

I'm not exactly sure of the structure in America tbh

2020-01-31 18:20:02 UTC

Wait, I'm saying that they shouldn't be taxed

2020-01-31 18:42:07 UTC

They aren't taxed so that they don't have influence over government

2020-01-31 18:42:33 UTC

It's not because the Church get a special favour from the state

2020-01-31 20:29:37 UTC

<@&588707615643795456> Daily Question ✝️

**-** When is violence justified? Is it ever? What scripture do you use to assert your beliefs?

2020-02-01 04:12:21 UTC

violence is only justified in self defence and im not gonna use scripture since i am not religious but im interested in religion ok bye

2020-02-01 04:16:08 UTC

When the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

2020-02-01 04:19:09 UTC

both answers kinda cringe

2020-02-01 04:19:42 UTC
2020-02-01 04:19:42 UTC

Violence is only justified if its deemed good in the eyes of god, and whats deemed good in the eyes of god is already presented in scripture, so self defense

2020-02-01 04:19:49 UTC

@Sentient23 Read Siege lmao.

2020-02-01 04:19:54 UTC
