@Eoppa the concept of purgatory is irrelevant to salvation so why talk about it
@Ater Votum the question is asking about purgatory, not about salvation
So asking why talk about it because it's not tied to salvation makes no sense
You don't know your BIBLE??????
@Maksim stupid question
@Ater Votum That's your problem, if you don't like it don't answer it, and if you want a better question, then DM me a question you'd like asked
what are you going on about?
Don't just complain, be constructive
Just general decency
I was assigned to write a story, I kind of want to do a story about an eastern orthodox monk, so I can learn more Orthodox philosophy myself.
Not sure what I would write about
@Religion **Daily Question**
Under the United States constitution, churches/religious organisations are exempt from a church tax being imposed by the federal government. Is this acceptable considering the United States is a secular liberal country?
<@&588707615643795456>
In the secular liberal framework no, because a church is like any other business or organization to them
I believe it's acceptable and the logic behind not taxing churches is solid to me
Most churches arent megachurches trying to influence policy
as much as i'm not religious i wouldn't want churches to be taxed
it's difficult as is to run a religion run purely based off of donations
I mean, I don't care if it conflicts with a shitty liberal worldview. Churches should not be taxed.
based pastor
Why do people not want witnesses?
no-one to snitch on ye
Churches add to social cohesion which is worth the lost tax income. At least in principle.
@Kichev It's hard for normal churches to survive as is just off of donations
Exactly, having to not pay taxes lets them survive and function. That function is worthwhile for the government
Donations are usually tax-exempt no?
So why should they be taxed?
It runs off of donations
There's other taxes, no?
I'm not exactly sure of the structure in America tbh
Wait, I'm saying that they shouldn't be taxed
They aren't taxed so that they don't have influence over government
It's not because the Church get a special favour from the state
