@Malcolm the Seceder okay.. π there's a teaching though, a principle behind it. I would rather place my emphasis on the teaching.
Of course but the historicity is also important. Unless there's a clear reason to think something is purely symbolic we should take it as read though
The spiritual meaning of the events is based in their historicity. God made these events happen as tools for teaching
The history of Israel is representative of the life of the believer and his relationship with Christ
I don't oppose the idea, like your claim about the whale, sure enough there are claims of others who survived being swallowed by a whale too, though very difficult to really confirm this as they are claims without witnesses or any other form of actual evidence, and there are many arguments for and against it too. Some say it's impossible because the throat or esophagus of the whale isn't big enough for a human, others say it's possible because they've found objects larger than a human inside of a whale, and the arguments go a long way.
We can spend a lot of time trying to reason about that for sure, it might bring this group back to life lol but again, my emphasis really falls on the teachings here. Context is important no doubt, but the principle takes the highest priority.
As an individual i prefer discovering what i believe, rather than being told what to believe. I would imagine for someone like DrLoLCat, that discovering what he believes would be more useful and actually more interesting than being told what to believe. It's a journey of self discovery really.
Well Scripture tells us it happened so that is why we should believe it. It was a miraculous event. We don't need scientists to explain how it could have happened

Nah i don't know about that... To be honest. Interesting idea to explore, but i don't think this will be a problem unless someone wants it to be... I can imagine someone would likely program it to be biased in how it should define progressive though... Can see where that would lead possibly.
So where do you guys think the world would be right now if Adolf Hitler did not die that day that he did?
challenging question π
@Sidius some claim he never died, and went into hiding. In which case the world wouldn't be much different than it is today lol.
there are strange happenings after world war 2, for instance https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Paperclip. so it is up in the air when considering what really happened. paperclip was not common knowledge until recently.
the world is not what we are told
Also women started to wear pants, to work, and divorce became a big social phenomenon overnight.
What if the Germans won WW2 and became the supreme power on the globe after demolishing America as we know it today? Think the world would be better off without those things happening or not so much?
I don't know personally, it's hard to say really from my own opinion because there still remains too much controversy around the truth, since propaganda is such a mess to sort out to get a really pure truth. Without that objective truth, it's hard to predict anything really.
The bigger tragedy is the loss of the British Empire
Too name tragedies in the past... Let's look towards a brighter future that we are responsible for.
To a new British Empire. Agreed.
And a new and independent volkstaat.
