Why do you think why they do it changes that they do?
It does not
I never said it does
but it changes how we can judge them on it
and how we can solve the problem
You just said it's misguided to say they oppose equality, when it's a factual statement.
They do not oppose equality
They oppose groups that supposedly fight for equality
@InsaneCaterpilla's logic is sound, but just to break down the argument into simple points that can be understood:
that is different than deliberately opposing all equality
1) Feminism only cares about women while arguing for equality, by definition
Yes
Same with the MRM
2) The MRM primarily cares about men while arguing for equality, by definition
correct
3) Only feminism has tried to shut the MRM out of the discussion. We've been trying to work with them for years
r/menslib does it fairly well
r/menslib dismisses genuine problems men face in society
They're an arm of feminism
Sorry to interject but have you seen menslib?
Yes I have. I actually prefer it to r/mensrights right now
some great discussions going on there
Now
give an example of it dismissing genuine problems
You mean like how to teach men not to rape people?
which is a genuine thing?
That's legitimately a topic I saw seriously discussed on there last time I viewed it
Yeppers. You have a problem with educating people about consent?
I have a problem with it being aimed at men specifically. And assuming that men don't know what rape is is frankly ridiculous
4) A pluralistic society involves interest groups like feminism and the MRA working together to shape policy, and by the compromises made, society is defined by the collective self-interest of the people through groups representing them
At this point it should be obvious that when feminism refuses to work with us that they are against the supposed "equality" they argue for
@InsaneCaterpilla that is not what it is. It is about the form of rape known as "misinformed belief in consent". Not deliberate rape. And while it should be aimed more at both genders, the current meme around rape makes that challenging
@Rai quite a few feminists are good with mens advocates when they understand what it is. I have changed a few minds myself, I would know
Describe "misinformed belief in consent" for me
@PM_ME_UR_PC_SPECS In my experience it's always the rank-and-file feminists that are fine with the MRM, even the segment that's split away from feminism
Meanwhile, the ones with big, glamorous positions in interest groups, aka the ones that actually matter when it comes to shaping policy, are almost 100% against us
@Rai so we need to talk more to these "big glamorous feminists"
@Rai what's quite disgusting about that is that the reason they do it isn't for the benefit of women, not that it doesn't achieve that. It's self advancement. Without having something to fight against they lose their notoriety and position, and even if they don't, they have to share power on their platform which involves losing some of it
@PM_ME_UR_PC_SPECS I see you aren't denying that the 'average' feminist gives credibility to those at the top and follows many of their opinions
