i rarely game anymore

i do image or vid processing when i'm bored

used to run it as a server

well last mobo took 64gigs max, this one takes 128gig max

i get nearly server grade performance parts...i normally select my builds to last 5-10yrs

dude...the previous pc....i had before i built this pc 6yrs ago...or rebuilt it about 3yrs ago...had only 4gig max...and 1 core...

i went from dark ages machine to the something with some teeth

ya...don't care

hawk...i didn't build this pc for gaming...i built it for everything

current pc has hardware video encoding

vid card does rendering, cpu does frame rates

ram is basically a buffer between them both

been building pc's for 30yrs......my first build involved a soldering iron

my 5yr old vid card has 4gig ram btw

A large amount of RAM is needed for things like video processing and *developing* games. Not just those two things either, but basically... I get ya man, I know game developers that have at least 64 gigs of RAM because they need it.
