idk why it's hard for you

2019-02-25 23:41:18 UTC

@JDB I know you can do it, but you will limit your development that way. You'd be a shell of what you could be, but a succesful one. You will wake up one day regretting not having more fun while you were young

2019-02-25 23:41:30 UTC

u have so much cash, that u can legit just do whatever u want for 5+ years

2019-02-25 23:42:25 UTC

@shadowlessnexus I think you have to be professional and dressing well/being in good shape and other silly things DOES signal a higher value. Now, it doesn't have to be sexual. There is nothing wrong working a job as you train yourself in another career.

2019-02-25 23:42:44 UTC

tbh - i just want to work a 3-4 day week as anything, so i can spend most of my time learning

2019-02-25 23:44:59 UTC

@JDB I am there with you. I am treating this job (software engineer making 75k) as means to more. I spend 4 hours in the morning before work to study/learn, then work 8-10 hours, workout 1 hour and chill the rest of the night. On weekends, I just hang with friends or learn. I think you do need to prioritize social though. It's so easy to be a hermit and start getting depressed if you're not careful.

2019-02-25 23:45:10 UTC

<@549393998788296736> Yeah, I love playing with the Halo effect. It's so funny seeing it all play out 100% according to your expectations. That's why I'm so bitter about women and relationships

2019-02-25 23:45:12 UTC

I honestly don't give a damn about my value. I'd rather have low social value and stay under the radar. You can only keep it so low as you raise it, but I don't care what society thinks about me.

2019-02-25 23:45:48 UTC

I know my true value and it's a shame that I can't hide it from the world at my will.

2019-02-25 23:45:56 UTC

@MufflePuff I want high value for raises/bonuses/work but care less otherwise.

2019-02-25 23:46:10 UTC

Ahh, well.... I don't want a job.

2019-02-25 23:46:12 UTC

@secrite wot time do u wake up?

2019-02-25 23:46:18 UTC

Makes sense for that though.

2019-02-25 23:46:25 UTC

@JDB 0500-600

2019-02-25 23:46:33 UTC

how do u have 4 hours to study

2019-02-25 23:46:40 UTC

when do u get into work

2019-02-25 23:46:46 UTC

@MufflePuff I don't care that you don't care, but your body cares. You have two different brains. Your system 1 (reptile brain) cares deeply about others' opinion. Your system 2 really doesn't care because it's logical. System 1 is a million times faster though and can override system 2 in a moment of weakness

2019-02-25 23:47:15 UTC

roko why do i find it so easy to not care then?

2019-02-25 23:47:33 UTC

Yes. Meditation helps. That's why HHH also advocates it. I should do so too more often

2019-02-25 23:47:42 UTC

my resting state, with no effort, idc

2019-02-25 23:47:57 UTC

Ehhhhh... I disagree @Roko. What are the long-term effects of my reptile brain not getting this validation?

2019-02-25 23:48:04 UTC

@JDB That's the whole reason I talk to you so much. You can override system 1. You're special in a way and I want to learn that trait.

2019-02-25 23:48:34 UTC

@MufflePuff You will feel like shit and you won't know why. It's physical pain coming from inside.

2019-02-25 23:48:46 UTC

I guess....

2019-02-25 23:48:47 UTC

maybe mufflepuff is like me too

2019-02-25 23:48:53 UTC

@Roko I know this will sound really dumb but I've been doing a 'passive meditation' by leaving my phone turned off in my work drawer. I embrace the slow moments of life without any distraction. I sit down to my computer to work. Otherwise, I am mentally freed up.

2019-02-25 23:49:19 UTC

I've been a social monk more and more the older I get and I'm happier each year because I'm living truly for myself.

2019-02-25 23:49:34 UTC

@secrite That's a good idea. I think that we're generally overstimulated though and our bodies cannot handle it. Minimalism and meditation would be good habits to pick up

2019-02-25 23:49:34 UTC

I'm more productive every year.

2019-02-25 23:49:36 UTC

@JDB I usually wake up 0500 and work on the side until 0900. I work 5 mins away so I get in around 0905-0910.

2019-02-25 23:49:46 UTC

oh wow nice

2019-02-25 23:50:03 UTC

The last thing I want is external validation.

2019-02-25 23:50:09 UTC

in order to reach nirvana, we have to let go

2019-02-25 23:50:16 UTC

@MufflePuff Why? And how do you feel usually?

2019-02-25 23:50:18 UTC

too much stimulation currently

2019-02-25 23:50:26 UTC

Cloud 9 every day.

2019-02-25 23:50:42 UTC

And because external validation is useless.

2019-02-25 23:50:42 UTC

@Roko I've been leaving the phone locked away in the drawer the past 2 weeks and it's still hard. I randomly feel like I get a buzz in the pants (not even the good kind!) but then remember it's only for work.

2019-02-25 23:50:46 UTC

muffle were u the person who uses google calendar?

2019-02-25 23:51:19 UTC

Internal validation is all that matters. Not that it matters more, it is all that matters. And every day that I live and every day that I progress, THAT validates that fact. Which makes me even happier.

2019-02-25 23:51:38 UTC

@secrite That's good! I'm not strong enough for that yet. I als have these phantom feelings of my phone in my pocket buzzing even though it might be on my desk.
