I want to die
Calarts needs to be burned to the ground
So the good 2011 version was nothing then
Nobody watched it
Well, they should have
Part of it may have been network meddling because I don't remember it ever being on at a convenient time for me to watch it.
I watched 2 episodes of that one, has very good art
^
If they're making a movie about the pope, something is wrong
Especially about this pope.
Of course he fucking looks like that
hnnnnnnnnnnnnng
this style is the mix of Steven Universe and those Cranium games. quite possibly two of my least favorite art styles
Looking at that just makes me angrier
You know stick figures will be in in like six or seven years
Lavishly drawn (or stolen) backgrounds with a rainbow team of stick figures with a whole bunch of white stick figures as the "enemies".
What is this?
all choreography/visual direction stolen from now ancient anime shows as a "callback", but we're still expected to respect the "effort" these "animators" put in.
@ebowden Ozen
Who/what is Ozen?
character from Made in Abyss
Part of the big writing project I'm working on has an in universe IP called "The Blankenships" a show popular with young adults where all the characters are made of cubes similar to a minecraft avatar, but they are all painted completely white.
What is Made in Abyss?
an anime that came out last year
It's supposed to be a satirical take on teen tumblr culture. But it's looks like it might become real.
Here's the notations I made for it.
The Blankenships is a popular webseries turned teen targeted cartoon. It stars a series of live- action actors dressed in blocky, Minecraft esque outfits which are then enhanced with CGI. This is primarily to make the boxes have that shiny cg look. All of the characters are the same uniform shade of white, with black outlines. The voices of the actors are dubbed over with artificial voices that lack most inflection, and are gender neutral. Only slight differentiations in height distinguish them. Even one character, who is supposed to be a dog, and communicates in CG barks is still portrayed as the bipedal character of intermediate size.
The show has a very “when to they get to the fireworks factory” story. The titular Blankenships hang around on a solid white background with the occasional prop. There is a greater storyline, allegedly, but it really is just about the various blankenships interacting with one another.
Romantic pairing is a major part of the show’s appeal. However, it is of the “shipping” never to be confirmed variety.
The creators of the show admit this is all intentional. They don’t want gender, race, or story to get between the audience and the characters. The creators are openly contemptuous of the idea of resolution and character development. They refer to the show as perpetual and eternal. Often being bombastic in their defense of their art, accusing those that don’t like it of bigotry, while extolling the virtues of their own enlightenment.
Anonymity of actors is strictly enforced. Early in the show an actor revealed he was one of the Blankenships. One of the creators had a brief breakdown, and the offending actor and his character were written out of the show. With the official social media accounts of the show declaring the character was dead, and the actor had murdered him. The actor in question has received many threats and had to retire from public life.
The show is a very popular amongst the tween and teen demographic, of course. Fans of the show refer to the fandom and themselves as enlightened.
Blankenship action figures are very popular. With some being more rare and valuable than others. Even though they all look the same except for the packaging. The cubes that make up the characters are like a dry erase board so owners can draw on and erase things from the character as they see fit. One of the protagonists owns a couple of the figures they received as a gift. They drew on them with permanent marker, and posted the results on the internet. There was a bit of a dustup about it.
