the areas such crimes happen is also an interesting stat.
aren't the hotspots for them in the cities that are very anti-gun already?

2019-12-01 22:55:15 UTC

ive heard somthing along those lines before yeah, idk how accurate it is though

2019-12-01 22:55:34 UTC

I suck at searching for stuff, so I am unable to find the stats myself.

2019-12-01 22:55:47 UTC

@ARockRaider yes, whenever people post these race stats it is always univariate.

all this race stuff goes under the second you start controling for different things

2019-12-01 22:56:11 UTC

multivariate analysis is the only way to prove causal links

2019-12-01 22:56:19 UTC

not this stuff

2019-12-01 22:57:37 UTC

my understanding is that these crimes are being caused by a particular culture, that culture is held by a particular people.
these crimes are also happening in places where the law-abiding can't have guns or can't use them because of the laws.

2019-12-01 22:58:52 UTC

yep, when you control for culture, economic, socio and then even zip code. whites in the rate have the same per capita as the blacks, aka - race means nothing

2019-12-01 22:59:16 UTC

these people refuse to control for differnent variables

2019-12-01 22:59:17 UTC

or means very little.

2019-12-01 22:59:35 UTC

@ArawnBlade i have no idea what anything you said had to do with the point i was making

2019-12-01 22:59:41 UTC

Given that the majority of influence in certain communities comes from songs that have lyrics about selling drugs and killing people over Colors, Sneakers, etc., it's definitely culture

2019-12-01 23:00:17 UTC

and often people attach themselfs to a culture based on their race.

2019-12-01 23:00:22 UTC

a lot of the gun violence is almost def linked to a mentality of kill those who wrong me rather than fight them, its like that scene from friday where he chooses a brick over a gun because he had a father to tell him why the gun was wrong

2019-12-01 23:01:38 UTC

a brick can still kill someone very easiley, If someone chucked a brick at me I would feel right in assumeing they wanted me dead and I would feel justified in responding accordingly.

2019-12-01 23:02:04 UTC

lol the brick was used because the guy was like 10 feet tall and solid muscle lol

2019-12-01 23:02:18 UTC

the message still applies for me

2019-12-01 23:02:20 UTC

the guy throwing or the other guy?

2019-12-01 23:02:32 UTC

the guy getting hit by the brick

2019-12-01 23:03:12 UTC

hmmm.... still, I would disagree with such an attack.

2019-12-01 23:03:13 UTC

he didnt throw it tho, he hit him in the face with it a few times

2019-12-01 23:03:59 UTC

its more the message behind it is why i brought it up, fight and both of you live rather than kill and then most likely be killed in retaliation

2019-12-01 23:03:59 UTC

oh, well in that case it is definitely an attack I would assume means to kill me, reguardless of my size to his.

2019-12-01 23:04:44 UTC

I would say that a physical attack is something that should only be done as a matter of last resort.

2019-12-01 23:04:57 UTC

youd have to watch the movie to get it, im not doing it justice, plus its a comedy movie for the most part

2019-12-01 23:05:18 UTC

oh, didn't know it was a movie, thought you were talking about a recent event in the news.

2019-12-01 23:06:24 UTC

nah its a movie called friday about people in the hood, that one part felt like it was relevant for the culture conversation that was going on

2019-12-01 23:06:33 UTC

ah

2019-12-01 23:07:59 UTC

Hell yeah

2019-12-01 23:08:03 UTC

I've watched that movie

2019-12-01 23:08:08 UTC

It's pretty fucking great

2019-12-01 23:08:41 UTC

It's probably accurate for those communities, too

2019-12-01 23:09:46 UTC

personaly I work with an asumption that every rule has an edge case.
there isn't much in the way of obvious color diversity where i live and so I don't have to worry about anything past "basic human assumption"
which normally is enough to start with almost anyone.
i'm sure if i lived in an area where there were clear culture lines I would have a "culture A assumption" and a "culture B assumption" that i would start with when ever I met someone new.

2019-12-01 23:10:33 UTC

it just so happens that cultures are passed on much like genetics, so culture tends to be mistaken for race.

2019-12-01 23:10:48 UTC

@ARockRaider would be better if it was not racial cultures and just the culture in general in low economic area such as the hood

2019-12-01 23:11:13 UTC

@ARockRaider and you shouldnt be afraid of the culture when you enter the gated community and see a black family

2019-12-01 23:11:25 UTC

I never would be

2019-12-01 23:11:47 UTC

awesome, that was not a comment entirely directed at you, but people in general

2019-12-01 23:11:55 UTC

oh

2019-12-01 23:12:28 UTC

i tend to write "you" alot but really i mean it in axiom form like kant

2019-12-01 23:12:38 UTC

you ought to do this
