equal oppurtunity in law essentially

2019-12-06 04:47:35 UTC

like the factual nature of reality may not be exactly equal per se

2019-12-06 04:47:52 UTC

So, more for equal opportunity in a business sense that is implemented via law

2019-12-06 04:48:02 UTC

don't we already have this?

2019-12-06 04:48:03 UTC

No one is blocking my internet based on my class, gender, or race

2019-12-06 04:48:12 UTC

China, lol

2019-12-06 04:48:16 UTC

@SuperHeroDeluxe i have wealth, power and the ability to influence outside of availability to find information online, i had better teachers ect

2019-12-06 04:48:54 UTC

you will never have the connections i have

2019-12-06 04:49:01 UTC

How do you know you had better teachers? 10% better than mine?

2019-12-06 04:49:26 UTC

20% better teachers?

2019-12-06 04:49:39 UTC

Lol

2019-12-06 04:49:40 UTC

I think the most important quantifying factor of a "successful" life is happiness

2019-12-06 04:49:58 UTC

do not frame it in quantitative measures, that is going to lead you astray @SuperHeroDeluxe

2019-12-06 04:50:00 UTC

even if you're out there making the big bucks driving the new cyber truck, miserable is miserable

2019-12-06 04:50:02 UTC

It's subjective. Of course

2019-12-06 04:50:03 UTC

framing it like that is off

2019-12-06 04:50:39 UTC

honestly I would frame it in time, poorer educators cost you more time as you have to spend more time learning on your own

2019-12-06 04:50:48 UTC

essentially poor education puts you "behind the curve"

2019-12-06 04:50:58 UTC

but most do not educate themselves past highschool

2019-12-06 04:51:01 UTC

so you have plenty of time

2019-12-06 04:51:02 UTC

i could easily frame the convo in terms of better qualitative opportunties

2019-12-06 04:51:11 UTC

Look, I do all of my work online. I am free to work anywhere on the planet i please. Sattelite phone is expensive but it can be done.

2019-12-06 04:51:20 UTC

@SuperHeroDeluxe just calling things subjective does not mean there is not different outcomes

2019-12-06 04:51:29 UTC

where are you from? @SuperHeroDeluxe

2019-12-06 04:51:49 UTC

California originally

2019-12-06 04:51:57 UTC

EXPLAINS SO MUCH

2019-12-06 04:51:59 UTC

I think superhero was saying that happiness is subjective

2019-12-06 04:52:53 UTC

Just because outcomes are different doesn't mean the people experiencing them are better off or worse

2019-12-06 04:53:27 UTC

Our president is getting hammered every day with bullshit

2019-12-06 04:53:40 UTC

He seems to be thriving on it

2019-12-06 04:54:21 UTC

I think trying to quantify "better" or "worse" on an individual level would be too hard and costly. I think on a collective level then you could have this argument

2019-12-06 04:55:10 UTC

like, for example, its much easier to state like "this region is 'better' than this other region"

2019-12-06 04:55:16 UTC

and to back that claim up

2019-12-06 04:56:09 UTC

I know that I have all the opportunity to get what I want that everyone else has. @Brue thinks I dont

2019-12-06 04:56:35 UTC

well technically you don't, but that depends on the scope you're looking at

2019-12-06 04:57:04 UTC

@TeeTotaler. Show me some facts that prove I can't get what I want

2019-12-06 04:58:41 UTC

@SuperHeroDeluxe there are african americans for one reason or another that have grown up in the hood, in a bad culture, without parents that support their education and no amount of access will change the fact that they could not put efforts towards education that you could, and then they will be behind in all aspects, while you can get a job anywhere with computerscience, the poor black kid in a bad gang culture and parental enviroment didnt even have the money or time or attention to do so. there is no equality of opporunity because you had different opportunities growing up.

2019-12-06 04:59:25 UTC

and good, there are winners and losers in society, sorry, but egalitarianism is idiodic, equal opportunity and outcome are both unnatural

2019-12-06 04:59:27 UTC

outside of obvious limitations there aren't really any restrictions. The point I was making, and that I think bruce is trying to make, is that you don't have the same opportunities that he has. For example he has different regional opportunities, his social support system and connections etc. Nobody has identical opportunities is his point I believe

2019-12-06 04:59:56 UTC

@TeeTotaler exactly my point

2019-12-06 05:00:25 UTC

I could go persue hose opportunities
