I think trying to quantify "better" or "worse" on an individual level would be too hard and costly. I think on a collective level then you could have this argument

2019-12-06 04:55:10 UTC

like, for example, its much easier to state like "this region is 'better' than this other region"

2019-12-06 04:55:16 UTC

and to back that claim up

2019-12-06 04:56:09 UTC

I know that I have all the opportunity to get what I want that everyone else has. @Brue thinks I dont

2019-12-06 04:56:35 UTC

well technically you don't, but that depends on the scope you're looking at

2019-12-06 04:57:04 UTC

@TeeTotaler. Show me some facts that prove I can't get what I want

2019-12-06 04:58:41 UTC

@SuperHeroDeluxe there are african americans for one reason or another that have grown up in the hood, in a bad culture, without parents that support their education and no amount of access will change the fact that they could not put efforts towards education that you could, and then they will be behind in all aspects, while you can get a job anywhere with computerscience, the poor black kid in a bad gang culture and parental enviroment didnt even have the money or time or attention to do so. there is no equality of opporunity because you had different opportunities growing up.

2019-12-06 04:59:25 UTC

and good, there are winners and losers in society, sorry, but egalitarianism is idiodic, equal opportunity and outcome are both unnatural

2019-12-06 04:59:27 UTC

outside of obvious limitations there aren't really any restrictions. The point I was making, and that I think bruce is trying to make, is that you don't have the same opportunities that he has. For example he has different regional opportunities, his social support system and connections etc. Nobody has identical opportunities is his point I believe

2019-12-06 04:59:56 UTC

@TeeTotaler exactly my point

2019-12-06 05:00:25 UTC

I could go persue hose opportunities

2019-12-06 05:00:38 UTC

What's stopping me?

2019-12-06 05:00:42 UTC

there are limited resources like time

2019-12-06 05:00:55 UTC

I have a lot of time

2019-12-06 05:01:01 UTC

they won't ever be identical is the point

2019-12-06 05:01:06 UTC

I work for myself

2019-12-06 05:01:22 UTC

that's what "equality" is

2019-12-06 05:01:32 UTC

@TeeTotaler. Two pennies aren't identical, really going there?

2019-12-06 05:01:39 UTC

they are equal in value

2019-12-06 05:01:48 UTC

but they aren't the same object

2019-12-06 05:02:03 UTC

having alot of time is not infinite time, it is stills scarce, and unbenounced to you, there are individuals that have less time than you and they cant

2019-12-06 05:02:37 UTC

that's true, none of us can realistically claim how much time we have before we expire

2019-12-06 05:03:16 UTC

If I am perfectly satisfied with where I am in life and you are also, what's the difference?

2019-12-06 05:03:28 UTC

all of nature points to hierarchicalism

2019-12-06 05:03:57 UTC

Wtf, really. Are we going to compare our birth circumstances and are who is better? Wtf

2019-12-06 05:04:06 UTC

Lol

2019-12-06 05:04:25 UTC

elaborate

2019-12-06 05:04:38 UTC

well I mean to be fair humans are hierarchal beings

2019-12-06 05:04:53 UTC

but "success" is definitely subjective and not very important

2019-12-06 05:04:55 UTC

In the physical world, sure

2019-12-06 05:05:39 UTC

But where do your happiness and mine compare in q heirarchy?

2019-12-06 05:06:11 UTC

well I would imagine that since I am myself that I always rank higher than you do

2019-12-06 05:06:19 UTC

im sure the Iroquois were successful in their own subjective opinion but they are not here right now, there are things which show success in nature and you have to step away from the subjective argument at some point

2019-12-06 05:06:21 UTC

I might be a little bit biased in my favor though :p

2019-12-06 05:06:32 UTC

This marxist stuff gets really boring , class heirarchies, yawn

2019-12-06 05:07:18 UTC

Intersectionality is bad for your minds

2019-12-06 05:07:38 UTC

my opinion of Marx is that he isn't a good philosopher. He seems to be perplexed as to why working classes of different nations don't work together and put themselves on the top of the hierarchy. Marx have you heard of basic human psychology?

2019-12-06 05:08:19 UTC

I fukin hate socialist economic thinking

2019-12-06 05:08:43 UTC

Marx is only popular because it's easy to read, prove me wrong

2019-12-06 05:08:49 UTC

marx was the indivdual who came up with the idea of equal opportunity, it is a socialist idea

2019-12-06 05:09:27 UTC

it's childlike, i agree @TeeTotaler
