This is why I applaud the president on scaling back the military aide blindly afforded to other countries. Many nations, particularly those in the EU, frequently receive millions in military surplus spending, yet fail to provide the occupational security necessary in 3rd world areas such as the middle east.
Also fuck the un
Just needed to say that
didnt do shit in bush wars
Bush wars as in african wars
I lost respect for the UN when then announced Saudi Arabia as a leader in the women's rights movement.
I hated the un way before that
wait they
Yup
actually said *saudi arabia*
Un couldnt do shit
Ever since then i hated them
They afforded women the right to drive - ergo leaders in the women's rights movement.
also bosnian wars
Ignoring current laws that allow women to be stoned to death for *perceived infidelity*
Since 2001 at least 980 billion has been spent on attempting to reform Afghanistan. Thousands of US soldiers have died for a regime change war that barely accomplished anything over 18 years. I would argue its created more terrorism and hate for the US mire tgan anything else
huge fuck up of the UN
Worthy sacrifice. I will remember them.
Al queda is in talks with us constantly rn
As of July 7, 2018, there have been 2,372 U.S. military deaths in the War in Afghanistan.
Again worthy sacrifices
Count the deaths from al queda
To be fair, it's worth reading up on the terrorism of the Islamic caliphate and the consequences wrought upon innocent nations. It's relatively easy to critique the US government on it's involvement in Afghanistan, but more noble to recognize the humanitarian causes advanced by our actions.
Its not worthy if it cause more radicalization
It wont
It does
ISIS just uses it for propagada even if its not true
It doesnt
Or else 9/11 wouldnt have happened
That's the catch 22. We've desperately tried to enact a self-sufficient government. The challenge is that their culture almost exclusively promotes dictatorship as the rule of law.
The greatest thing in afgahastan is that we are talking with al-queda
instead of killing the whole population
@Mersenne Of course I agree that the Islamic caliphate is a cancer on the planet and is killing many people. But they've mostly grown as a result of our presence
of afganahistan
Besides we need to be in war ready conidtion
This is useful experience
We send billions in foreign aid to Saudi Arabia who fund terrorist groups
They've definitely used US presence to sympathize with Islamic extremists, but this goes back to the pernicious nature of their culture and religion. Ignoring the geo-political aspects, it's worth handing this clusterfuck over the UN or more localized nations while preserving pockets of troops to monitor for Islamic militant activity.
