Arguable, Under the current system some people can be left without any income for weeks or even in some rare cases months

In the modern world everyone should have access to basic
necessities and UBI can deal with that

particularly the weakest in society

It can also reduce the damage caused by automation

negates the damage done by entitlement criteria and beurocracy failure and distortion

there is a finite amount of money... if youre giving it to everyone, then you are diluting the amount the people who need it most get

which is fine by me... but dont say its not taking some from the poorest

you're not necessarily giving out any more money

UBI isn't putting extra money into circulation and for most people you will just be giving back part of the money that has been taken from them through tax

well you are, but you're clawing far more back from the rich that you're giving, and you're doign away with the beurocratic behemoth

It's too bad that only radical parties were offering UBI in the last election

Now's not the time for it, anyway

once you have bipedal robots able to perform pretty much any teachable task... farm, harvest, deliver/drive... build housing... then you got a scarcity free society

when the robots can take care of themselves, fix each other...

and when on finance for the price of a new car, you can buy an android that does all the cleaning and cooking... that'll be pretty sweet

centuries away from post-scarcity society

I dunno bout that... these things tend to escalate quickly

I always said... 1900-1950 was the production line age.. which by 1950 was pretty much sorted...
then 1950-2000 was the digital age
and 2000-2050 will be the robot age
and my best guess would be 2050-2100 being a space age

so think where we were in 1970 with the digital age... and where we got to in 2000

right now we got robots doing flippin parkour 😛
